🇪🇸 ~ ¡Buenas madrugadas a todos! ☕ 💕 En un post anterior tuve un ataque de nostalgia muy intenso y también hice una promesa, y gracias a una amiga (muchas gracias Gaby) hoy vengo a cumplir mi palabra. Gracias a ella pude ver en alta calidad el corto de animación de la serie Patlabor que se estreno hace 7 años; y aunque se que no puedo compartir el enlace para verlo, estoy tan encantada que quiero traer resumen a la comunidad para que se animen, lo busquen y le den una oportunidad a la franquicia en caso no la conozcan.

Thanks to her I was able to see in high quality the animated short of the Patlabor series that was released 7 years ago; and although I know I can't share the link to see it, I'm so delighted that I want to bring a summary to the community so that they are encouraged, look for it and give the franchise a chance in case they don't know it.
Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot o Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot (S) es un corto de animación de acción, comedia y ciencia ficción que contiene los elementos mas significativos de la serie de adaptaciones que tuvo "Patlabor", obra que nos presenta un mundo donde los robots (labors) son utilizados para tareas de ingeniería civil como la construcción, pero algunas personas han decidido darles un mal uso a estas herramientas, eso ocasiona la creación de una division especial de "labors" para uso policial (unidades Patlabors) para contener estas situaciones. ¡Eso básicamente!, ¿notan la diferencia entre Patlabor, y la franquicia de Macross y Gundam?, aquí no hay robots ayudando a la humanidad a colonizar otros planetas, o robots con hornos solares como motores atravesando espacios aéreos continentales en escasos minutos, aquí no hay alienígenas ni personajes mesiánicos. Y eso me resulta muy encantador.
Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot or Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot (S) is an action/comedy/sci-fi animated short that contains the most significant elements of the series of adaptations of "Patlabor", which presents a world where robots (labors) are used for civil engineering tasks such as construction, but some people have decided to misuse these tools, which causes the creation of a special division of "labors" for police use (Patlabors units) to contain these situations. That's basically it, do you notice the difference between Patlabor, and the Macross and Gundam franchise?, here there are no robots helping humanity to colonize other planets, or robots with solar ovens as engines traversing continental airspace in minutes, here there are no aliens or messianic characters. And I find that very charming.
Este corto de animación no solo esta hermosamente producido, desde el diseño de personajes, la calidad de la animación, el trabajo de los seijuus, la dirección de fotografía y la gran cantidad de cameos de la ciudad y distintas perspectivas a lo largo de 7 minutos, también esta brillantemente planteado porque los acontecimientos parecen desarrollarse en el presente real, donde ya existen las redes sociales y podemos ver la reacción de los civiles ante el enfrentamiento de un Labor y las unidades Patlabors de la policía (en lugar de huir, se quedan cerca para grabar, es hilarante, aún cuando el oficial da la advertencia de que abrirá fuego y saca un arma, la gente no se resguarda sino que se pregunta ¿QUE HARÁ?). "El malo" de este clip incluso esta en un directo 😂 👌
This animated short is not only beautifully produced, from the character design, the quality of the animation, the work of the seijuus, the direction of photography and the many cameos from the city and different perspectives over the course of 7 minutes, it is also brilliantly pitched because the events seem to unfold in the real present, where social networks already exist and we can see the reaction of civilians to the confrontation of a Labor and the police Patlabors units (instead of running away, they stay close to record, it's hilarious, even when the officer gives the warning that he will open fire and pulls out a gun, people don't take cover but wonder WHAT WILL HE DO? ). "The bad guy" in this clip is even in a live 😂 👌

Es muy emocionante encontrarte con este tipo de joya, las adaptaciones o remakes contemporáneas no siempre son exitosas, levantan inconformidades o hasta la ira de los fans por su estética demasiado plana o mucho 3D o CGI; suele suceder que las nuevas tecnologías a pesar de ofrecer tantas herramientas, simplemente no logran emular la magia de algunas series, más aún si se trata de una serie "vieja" (TENGO MIEDO DEL DIA EN QUE ALGUNA EMPRESA SE FIJE EN "LADY OSCAR" O "CANDY CANDY" JAJAJAJA), pero eso NO sucede con Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot, solo miren esa ficha técnica, es un proyecto trabajado con mucho amor y cuidado a los detalles, especialmente al guion, que creo logra ubicarte muy bien en qué y cómo es el mundo donde se desarrollan los acontecimientos.
It is very exciting to find this kind of jewel, contemporary adaptations or remakes are not always successful, they raise disagreements or even the ire of the fans for their too flat aesthetics or too much 3D or CGI; it usually happens that new technologies despite offering so many tools, simply fail to emulate the magic of some series, even more if it is an "old" series (I'M FEARED OF THE DAY THAT SOME COMPANY WILL LOOK AT "LADY OSCAR" OR "CANDY CANDY" HAHAHA), but that does NOT happen with Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot, just look at that technical sheet, it is a project worked with much love and attention to detail, especially the script, which I think manages to place you very well in what and how is the world where the events take place.
Hablando de este formato de animación corto o conmemorativo "de lo vintage", hasta ahora lo mas similar que conocía era "Clamp in Wonderland 1 y 2" y el de "Rumic World". El guion de "Rumic World" es bastante plano y si no has visto las series de las que hace crossover, es difícil entender lo que implica cada dialogo e interacción entre los personajes (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 e InuYasha).
Speaking of this "vintage" short or commemorative animation format, so far the most similar I knew was "Clamp in Wonderland 1 and 2" and "Rumic World". The script of "Rumic World" is quite flat and if you have not seen the series it crossovers, it is difficult to understand what each dialogue and interaction between the characters implies (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha).
"Clamp in Wonderland" por el contrario, te da a entender parte del canon de que todas las series y universos de CLAMP están conectados, y precisamente comienza y termina con las principales series donde se puede ver que esto suceda (comienza con xXxHolic, y termina con Tsubasa Reservoir of Chronicles). Muchas de sus primeras obras hacen cameos, unos mas significativos que otros, pero ambas partes son emocionantes de ver si eres fan del mejor grupo mangaka de Japón.
"Clamp in Wonderland " on the contrary, it gives you to understand part of the canon that all CLAMP series and universes are connected, and precisely starts and ends with the main series where you can see this happening (it starts with xXxHolic, and ends with Tsubasa Reservoir of Chronicles). "No somos héroes de una serie de anime de robots. Como policías, protegemos la ciudad y a su gente" es una frase demasiado ingeniosa que me recordó lo genial que es la serie, al menos, la de 1989. Por supuesto que aquí no he abordado ni remotamente las propuestas mas interesantes de la trama, los nombres de los vehículos o los modelos de labors. Tengo la teoría de que todas las series de robots, mecas o mechas son buenas, incluso las que contienen elementos absurdos o exagerados, y Patlabor aporta algo diferente, mas humano, menos fantasioso y hasta posible.
"We are not heroes in a robot anime show. As police officers, we protect the city and its people", is an overly witty phrase that reminded me of how great the series is, at least, the 1989 series. Of course, here I haven't even remotely addressed the most interesting plot propositions, the names of the vehicles or the models of labors. I have a theory that all robot, mecha or mecha series are good, even those that contain absurd or exaggerated, elements and Patlabor brings something different, more human, less fanciful and even possible.
