A weekee-greeting to all Hivers!! As I mentioned in my previous Drazing post, the Drazing evolutions were going to be my next models. I decided to make two posts about them, the first being this one, where I show you the process of adapting the mesh and rig to the evolutions and making Emberion and Glacion, and the next one being of the three evolutions left. So let's go!
¡Un weekee-saludo a todos los Hivers! Como mencioné en el post previo de Drazing, las evoluciones iban a ser mis siguientes modelos. Decidí hacer dos posts de ellas, este siendo el primero, donde les muestro el proceso de adaptación de la malla y el rig base de drazing a las evoluciones y el proceso de creación de Emberion y Glacion. El siguiente será de las tres evoluciones restantes ¡Así que vamos allá!
Well, most of the main physical aspect of Drazing is conserved in all its evolutions of course.
Bueno, gran parte del aspecto físico de Drazing se mantiene en todas sus evoluciones claramente.
What changes in general are the body and tail being larger and smaller head, because it has less of a baby appearance and is stronger. I duplicated the mesh and did these changes to have a base. I used Emberion and its colors for reference, and to differentiate both meshes at first.
Lo que cambia en general son el cuerpo y la cola siendo más largos y la cabeza más pequeña en proporción con el cuerpo, puesto que tiene una menor apariencia de bebé y es más fuerte. Dupliqué la malla e hice estos cambios para tener una base. Usé a Emberion y sus colores como referencia, y para diferenciar ambas mallas al inicio.
The arms looked more muscular too and the legs a bit longer.
Los brazos se veían más musculosos también y las piernas un poco más largas.
The hand claws were distributed more like fingers in a real hand and the feet claws had a bit more separation between them than Drazing ones.
Las garras de las manos estaban distribuidas más como si fueran dedos de una mano y las garras de los pies tenían más separación entre ellas que las de Drazing.
Before deleting the wings 'cause for the base evolution model they weren't necessary, I decided to make Emberion wings directly to save time. Just ended up modifying Drazing wings a little bit so they could fit in the arms.
Antes de eliminar las alas debido a que el modelo base de las evoluciones no las necesitaba, decidí hacer directamente las alas de Emberion para ahorrar tiempo. Solo terminé modificando un poco las alas de Drazing para que encajaran en los brazos.
Something very important was missing here: the big intimidating 'eyebrows'. They're the key change in the face.
Algo muy importante faltaba aquí: las grandes e intimidantes 'cejas'. Ellas hacen el cambio clave en la cara.
And without colors and everything, this is how the base evolution looks like:

I made two copies from it for Emberion and Glacion. Back with Emberion colors, I started deforming the base horns.
Hice dos copias para trabajar en Emberion y Glacion. De vuelta con los colores de Emberion, comencé a deformar los cuernos base.
Here I used something I didn't need to use on Drazing: UVs and Texture Painting. With basic materials is almost always impossible to make complex gradients or details in the appearance of the model, so you need to have a texture aplied to the mesh to paint on it. It's like painting a disassembled box and then assembling it again to see the result.
Aquí usé algo que no necesité utilizar en Drazing: UVs y Pintado de Texturas. Con materiales básicos es casi siempre imposible hacer gradientes complejos o detalles en la apariencia del modelo, así que necesitas tener una textura aplicada a la malla para pintar en ella. Es como pintar una caja desarmada y luego armarla otra vez para ver el resultado.
Now with Emberion texture finished I started working on Glacion. First the horns and elongating the ears.
Ya terminadas la textura de Emberion, comencé a trabajar en Glacion. Primero los cuernos y elongar las orejas.
Also the back horns, these being kind of tricky to make.
También los cuernos traseros, estos siendo un poco enredados de hacer.
I also started texture painting Glacion. The result looked very good :3, Glacion is my favorite evolution from all.
I added the ice in the tail too.
También le pinté una textura a Glacion. El resultado se veía muy bien :3, Glacion es my evolución favorita de todas.
Le añadí el hielo en la cola de paso.
Now it was time for a time-taking and boring task: re-ubicating the rig bones. I didn't take many pictures of this because it wasn't very interesting to see honestly XD
Ahora era hora de una tarea aburrida que llevaba mucho tiempo: reubicar los huesos del rig. No tomé muchas fotos de esto porque no era muy interesante de ver sinceramente XD
Here I finished re-ubicating the head support bones... The nightmare was finally over. Luckily this process is only done once :3
Aquí terminé de recolocar los huesos de apoyo de la cabeza... Finalmente la pesadilla terminó. Por suerte este es un proceso de una sola vez :3
I added the constraints and other bone controls that I used on Drazing's with some fixes. It was now ready for posing!
Añadí las constricciones y otros controles de huesos que usé en la Armadura de Drazing con algunos arreglos ¡Ahora estaba listo para posar!
I can switch between evolutions with ease, not affecting the pose at all!
Puedo cambiar de evolución fácilmente con este sistema, ¡sin afectar la pose!
I almost forgot to rig Emberion wings, so I did that right quick.
Casi olvido ponerle rigging a las alas de Emberion, así que lo hice de inmediato.
And it was finally time for the truth, for the epicness, for the rivalry...

After some fast Photoshop background, it was finished.
