Summoner Focus

In this week's Social Media Challenge, I'd like to showcase one of the most formidable Summoners from the Dragon Splinter: BYZANTINE KITTY!
This Summoner is frequently encountered in the Champions League and is a favorite among players vying for top positions on the Leaderboard!
With the launch of the Rebellion Edition, the BYZANTINE KITTY
from the Untamed Edition has been phased out from the Modern League. Currently, the Summoner can only be used in the Wild League which is a good news to players that are without this overpowered Summoner! 😁

GOLD FOIL BYZANTINE KITTY
this time round!The Battle
While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able engage in a battle against the BYZANTINE KITTY
as I do not have the luxury of having this Summoner in my arsenal to play with. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's begin by dissecting the rulesets guiding this battle. It's a straightforward match governed solely by the Standard ruleset, effectively meaning "No Ruleset" as it maintains the purest essence of battle dynamics devoid of external influences. This matchup enforces a mana cap of 53 and prohibits the utilization of the Water and Life Splinters.

Summoner, Quix The Devious
Considering the ample mana allowance of this battle, my choice to select the Dragon Splinter and designate Quix The Devious as my Summoner is chiefly centered around the deployment of the Dragon Monsters, particularly the Chaos Dragon. The generous mana limit imposed in this battle favors the Dragon Summoner, providing the opportunity to integrate high mana costing Dragon Monsters with another Splinter as desired. Furthermore, the Summoner's debuffs of -1 Range and -1 Speed offer valuable tactical advantages during battles 😄

First Position, Djinn Chwala
Selecting Djinn Chwala as my preferred tank for this battle was based on the anticipation that my opponent might also employ the Dragon Splinter and select the Carnage Titan to inflict substantial damage on my team. Therefore, Djinn Chwala's Thorns ability would act as an effective countermeasure, returning some of the damage inflicted by Melee attackers. Additionally, the Enrage ability would boost both Djinn Chwala's Melee attack and Speed when damaged, further enhancing its effectiveness in battle! 💪

Second Position, Carnage Titan
The Carnage Titan emerges as an unrivaled force on the battlefield, showcasing remarkable statistics and formidable abilities. Positioned in the second slot despite its Melee classification, it retains its offensive might thanks to the Reach ability. Additionally, its Double Strike capability empowers the Carnage Titan to deliver devastating blows to the enemies. Bolstering its durability, the Shield ability ensures that the Carnage Titan withstands diminished Melee damage when under attack! 😝

Third Position, Chaos Dragon
Despite its considerable mana, the Chaos Dragon undeniably proves its worth with every mana point expended, establishing itself as an unstoppable force on the battlefield. Although the Scattershot ability introduces an element of unpredictability, not align with my preferred tactics, the Chaos Dragon reliably deals significant damage to the enemy's ranks, particularly when coupled with its Blast ability! Furthermore, the Blind ability heightens the likelihood of enemies missing their target with both Melee and Ranged attacks! 😜

Fourth Position, Queen Mycelia
I included Queen Mycelia in my lineup because of its invaluable Protect and Rust abilities, which grants a +2 Armor buff to my lineup while providing a -2 Armor debuff to the enemies' team. Additionally, the Monster possesses the Amplify ability, enhancing the effectiveness of any retaliatory Thorns damage against enemies. Lastly, it may aid in prolonging the lifespan of backline units thanks to its valuable Triage ability, which heals the friendly backline Monster that has suffered the most damage! 🤝

Fifth Position, Goblin Psychic
During this battle, the Goblin Psychic takes center stage as the standout performer, significantly influencing the battle's outcome with its invaluable support and debuff abilities. Its Silence ability effectively diminishes the enemy's Magic damage output, serving as a perfect deterrent against their Magical assaults. Moreover, the Goblin Psychic also brings abilities like Tank Heal and Affliction, both of which carry vital significance in this encounter! 😊

Last Position, Supply Runner
The Supply Runner is a versatile Monster hailing from the Neutral Splinter. Often selected as I do not know what other options I should go with in my lineup that would synergize well with the rest of the team. But with Supply Runner, it provides valuable buffs such as Strengthen and Swiftness which gives the lineup a +1 Health and +1 Speed stat respectively. At 6 mana cost, it possess a decent 3 Ranged attack, 5 Speed and 5 Health! 😝
The Analysis

Similar to my strategic approach, my opponent also opted for the Dragon Splinter in a battle where mana capacity is abundant, as we both believe that the Dragon Splinter harbors some of the most devastating Monsters in Splinterlands. However, what caught me off guard was being pitted against the BYZANTINE KITTY!
Facing a team led by the BYZANTINE KITTY
always spells trouble, with the odds of winning typically at a low percentage! Upon seeing the rest of the opponent's lineup, I must admit I immediately clicked on the "Skip To Results" button (which I rarely do) as I already had the presumed outcome in mind. However, to my pleasant surprise, the result showed that I actually emerged victorious from the battle! 😅
In a state of shock, I couldn't resist replaying the battle to discern what exactly happened during the encounter and how my lineup managed to triumph against the formidable opponent's team led by the renowned BYZANTINE KITTY!
😮
All I can attribute to this victory is sheer luck that happened to be in my favor. Under normal circumstances, I believe this battle would have been heavily one-sided, with the opponent overpowering me in every aspect. So, here are some of the reasons why I managed to pull off this lucky escape:
(1) The Silence ability from the Goblin Psychic effectively reduced the Magic attack of the opponent's Monster, allowing Djinn Chwala to endure the barrage of Magic attacks.
(2) The Goblin Psychic that I have in my lineup successfully inflicted the Affliction status on the Agor Longtail during the first round, preventing it from benefiting from its own Healing ability as well as the Tank Heal provided by the BYZANTINE KITTY!

(3) The opponent's Doctor Blight failed to land the Affliction and Poison status on Djinn Chwala in the first round, enabling Goblin Psychic to provide a crucial Tank Heal on my tanker, thus prolonging its lifespan in the battle!

(4) Even with the +2 Speed boost from the BYZANTINE KITTY
and Agor Longtail's Flying ability enhancing its evasion, my Monsters were exceptionally fortunate to consistently connect their attacks on the Agor Longtail. This enabled me to promptly eliminate the Agor Longtail, even after it had been revived by Oshuur Constantia!

(5) Chaos Dragon's Scattershot ability miraculously landed its attack on the Silent Sha-Vi in both rounds, eliminating the Monster early in the battle!
