BATTLE LINK -- July 6, 2024 -- Day 188 of 366 vs. @sinnis
Today's battle from Modern Champion 3 is a 52-mana encounter with three rulesets: Even Stevens, Stampede, and Aim True. Only three elements were available: earth, life, and death.
My opponent and I both made the same summoner choice -- Immortalis from the earth element. With only half the card pool available because of the Even Stevens rule, I was amazed that we only selected two of the same monsters in our lineups.
After getting a bunch of shine in yesterday's BOTD, the double-striking Chaos Legion earth epic, Grund, finally gets its due today as the featured card. With the Stampede rule, Grund is at its best because it has two trample attacks of 4 power, getting around the pesky forcefield ability!
The big knock on Grund is its lack of durability as a tank, so giving it ways to attack without placing it in 1st position is key. Here, I took advantage of the flank ability from Croire to allow Grund to attack like it had reach.
Croire soaked up a bunch of damage and Grund took care of the rest. With the help of my supporting cast, Grund eventually killed all six of my opponent's monsters over three rounds of battle.
