For many, a maxed common card might not feel like much to celebrate, especially when compared to the flashy powerhouses of the Legendary or Epic tier. But anyone grinding through the Gladiator set knows just how much effort it takes to get there. Common cards may be... well, common, but they require a lot of copies to combine before they hit max level. And when it comes to Gladiators, where cards are only earned through Guild Brawls, that grind can feel even longer.
What makes this achievement even sweeter is the unique nature of Gladiator cards. Unlike regular ranked cards, these are brawl-exclusive and can't be bought or sold—every single copy is earned. That alone gives them a special place in my collection. And despite my first maxed Common not being one of the most powerful options in the set, it still feels like a breakthrough. I now see a clearer path toward maxing more cards—and hopefully the stronger ones, too.
The Gladiator set is unique because most of its cards come with the Bloodlust ability—an absolute game-changer in Brawls. Even the Commons can shift the tide of a match if they get rolling. While my freshly maxed card might not make top-tier lists, it's a step closer to building a full, competitive maxed Gladiator deck, something I’ve been working toward for a while.
Part of my urgency stems from the thought that this set might eventually be rotated out for a new one, and I didn’t want to miss out on getting the most from it. While no official announcement has come down about a new Gladiator edition, it’s something always in the back of my mind.
For now, the weekly Brawl grind continues. Truthfully, Brawls are just about the only regular gameplay I engage in these days—but I still find them enjoyable. There's something rewarding about putting together a team with limited resources, battling alongside your guildmates, and seeing your contributions add up over time.
So here’s to small milestones that mean more than they seem on paper. One maxed Common down, many more to go. The road is long, but moments like these make it worth walking.
