I thought it was time to really talk about another one that has continually improved for the benefit of the community all while being absolutely free! In fact, the development team has actually used some of the tools here for their own use on Splinterlands TV! I am talking about Baron’s Toolbox developed by @axlertwinblade aka @nfoguides. He started with his own website but has since developed a quite complete browser extension to improve the way we interact with the game on browser.
I met the developer at Splinterfest and was excited to meet him as I consider him one of the top streamers of the game. He is a great guy and I think he is genuinely one of the best content creators that assists the community in so many ways! Not only because of the thousands of cards he has gifted (my estimate), but also the utility and focus of the tools he has developed. While us old players know the abilities and rule sets quite well, his extension provides a great UI to demonstrate at any point in time what each means to the player that is just learning the game.
However, even us old timers and veterans get some great utility from his work! In my case, I love how the tool consolidates our key assets and metrics at the top of the page without having to navigate outside the main gameplay area. Even better, his tool adds an overlay to help filter our cards by abilities as well! No more using the dropdown menu in game! These abilities even glow when they are part of our daily focus to help us accumulate more Reward Shares in every battle!
As if that was not enough, he just recently added an in game chat feature for all users of the extension. Despite months of community requests to the developers, this extension has deployed a great tool in a short amount of time. He continues to add to it as well as it now allows players to request challenges among those who use it as well. This is a great example of how our community continues to crowdsource ideas and run with them independently of the game’s core development.
I really appreciate all of his hard work and wanted to get the word out with this post! I am sure you will win some cards if you hang with us and enjoy the stream. These are the pillars of the community that get me excited about the future potential of the ecosystem. Not many places like this in Web3 at the moment!
