Introduction
I am writing this post because I would like to bring more attention from the Splinterlands community to the new Splinterlands Battle Statistics published recently by @quigua which I think flew totally under radar!
First a disclaimer I already found a bug in SPS earnings and they adjusted the system to better track that for next season, and there might be other bugs as well, but I believe this is the most extensive data I have seen on the number of players and battles in the Splinterlands and most importantly where most of the battles are taking place.
Modern League Unique Players Per Day Per League
Take a look at the chart above, from this chart it looks like we had a total of just over 1,750 unique players per day in Modern League and out of those more than a 1,000 was Silver 1 and below, from what I seen that is basically players with level 1 modern cards or even simply playing the Foundation set!
So if we look at July 16th for example we see that Gold 2 was just over 1,250 from my experience even Gold 1 in Modern usually doesn't have very high level cards... So basically we see 400 to 500 competitive or relatively good level deck players in Modern.
Also, interesting to see that the number of modern players tended to trend down as the season progressed. I would have expected the first few days of the season to be less active, but maybe I am still stuck in the good all days :)
Wild League Unique Players Per Day Per League
Looking at he Wild League players above which is obviously mostly bots we see a completely different picture. As should be expected we have more accounts playing in Wild most of the days above 2,000 accounts and the distribution of players is definitely biased towards Gold One and above with even during the second day of the season having under five hundred accounts out of more than two thousand in Gold Two or below.
This means that there a lot of players with fairly high level decks in Wild. Majority is probably powered with the Chaos Legion set cards that were severely overprinted. Another interesting thing to note here is that towards the end of the season everyone is slowly moving up to Diamond one and Champion three leagues.
Survival Mode Unique Players Per Day Per League
Another interesting chart above is looking at the unique players per League in Survival mode. As you can see Survival is a fairly niche mode with between three hundred and four hundred unique players participating on a daily basis. The first four days there seems to be more participation and then it drops off to around three hundred and stays there until the day before the end of the season where it spikes up above four hundred again.
This is understandable as I like to play out all of my energy then go into the Survival mode the last day of the season. There could be some correlation with Brawls as well as some people might play the brawl battles then go into Survival mode without fearing of loosing their cards for the Brawl.
Brawl Player Stats
Another interesting graph that confirms my experience is the one above that clearly shows that majority of the players play the brawl in the last day. I don't know why that is the case, I like to get brawls out of the way on the first day so that I don't forget, but I guess I am in the minority.
SPS Earnings Stats Per Day Per Mode
The graph above really peaked my interest, it shows which day of the season most SPS is earned. It looks like day one is by far the most profitable day of the season for all leagues. Maybe the pool gets refilled?
This is most pronounced in Modern and Survival modes, the earnings in Wild are a lot more stable.
Conclusion
Based on this data we have more than 4,000 and potentially up to eight to nine thousand players in Brawls, under 2,500 unique players is Wild, around 1,750 players Modern and under 450 players in survival mode.
There is a lot more information in the "SplinterStats: Unveiling Splinterlands Battle Statistics. The Season's Report 163" post so take a look!
