Hello Everyone, i hope you are well. Today marks the third consecutive day of me posting another silver coin. This is actually a challenge/initiative that came out from @silverd510 and the gist is to create 12 consecutive posts about silver coins that you would like to receive as a present for Christmas.
Today’s coin as I mentioned yesterday as well, is from Scottsdale Mint as well and revolves around Japanese culture. Ofc it’s another colored silver coin, that as you can see it depicts a Samurai with the traditional Japanese style. It came out in 2018, proof-like, with .999 silver purity and weights 1 Troy Oz. There are 1500 of these out there for anyone interested and it costs around 79$-90$.
As you can see in the front, the name of Kiyomori is written. It’s time for a history lesson, yeahh! Taira no Kiyomori (1118-1181) was a actually a military leader and quite the higher up in terms of rankings ofthat ear. He led the Taira clan who was considered one of the top 4 in Heian-kyo, which you may knownow as Kyoto. According to Wikipedia the guy pretty much established the first samurai administrative government in the history of Japan.
If you can pay closer attention i started with a coin that costs around 200$ and now showed you one with 80$. I highly bet that by the end of this initiative, there will be coins posted that are the cheapest ones i can find, in the hope that i might actually buy one. Ofc i will try to find the cheapest silver one, but cool at the same times, at least in my eyes!
Tomorrow i will show you another silver colored coin about Japanese culture which i like the most between this one and the one yesterday so be ready!
