Today, I will feature the first-ever Voyager, a commemorative coin minted to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of George V.
1935 Canada Silver Dollar, AU/BU 25th Anniversary George V
My sis @kerrislravenhill commented on my article the 1936 Canada Silver Dollar featured yesterday:
The 1935 Canadian Voyager Silver Dollar coin is truly legendary. It is the coin that launched a legacy.

The Voyager is the first Canadian silver dollar issued by the Royal Canadian Mint for circulation.
In case you are wondering, in the background are the Northern Lights. These are symbolic of the vastness and wilderness of Canada.
The 25th Anniversary of the Reign of George V commemorative issue started the Canada Silver dollars, which continued on until 1967. After which the RCM switched the dollars to nickels.
George V objected to the anti-Catholic wording of the Accession Declaration that he would be required to make at the opening of his first parliament. He made it known that he would refuse to open parliament unless it was changed. As a result, the Accession Declaration Act 1910 shortened the declaration and removed the most offensive phrases. George V supported dominion autonomy, leading to the Statute of Westminster (1931). The Statute of Westminster 1931 marked a significant step towards the legislative independence of the British Commonwealth Dominions, like Canada, Australia, and others, establishing them as equal in status to Britain and allowing them full control over their domestic and foreign affairs.
George V did not seek grandeur, and without pursuing brilliance, he brought about changes that reshaped the monarchy. My kind of guy!
