Back when I first got Ghost of Tsushima in mid-July, I knew I was going to love this game. I posted one video showcasing just how beautiful the game is. It is now September 1st, and just last night I finally finished the main storyline.
I must say that the story was extremely satisfying. I was tasked with fighting off Mongol invaders lead by Khotun Khan. They wished to conquer my Japanese homeland of Tsushima. Stopping them was no easy task, considering the Mongols did not abide by the same code of honor that the Japanese samurai lived by for so long. Even once the slaughtering began, samurai were not willing to break their code. This was beginning to result in terrible losses all around the board.
This is where my character Jin Sakai comes in, aka The Ghost.
Jin witnessed his father being murdered at a very young age and was too cowardly at the time it save him. He was then raised by his uncle Lord Shimrua who taught him to be an honorable samurai. Things were going great before the Mongols arrived, Jin had become a great warrior and Lord Shimura even planned to adopt him as his son and heir to the clan.
Once Jin realized that the samurai had no chance if they continued with their traditional ways, he embraced many new tactics. Stealth, poison, disobeying orders, and anything else that was required to save his people. This eventually lead to him earning the name “The Ghost of Tsushima”. In turn it forced Lord Shimura to obey orders from the shogun to kill Jin Sakai for his new path.
This main story took me over a month to finish, I don’t have that much time to play these days. I was so excited to finally reach the end, it was quite the theatrical ending. Two final boss fights, one with the Khan and the other against Lord Shimura. Jin Sakai did what was necessary to stop the Mongols from invading mainland Japan. This of course resulted in him losing everything he once loved; his home, family, and title of samurai. After the story I had nothing left but a tiny shack with a few belongings, a new horse (since my original one was killed), and my new friends/followers who agreed with my way of the ghost.
Even after finishing the main quests, I only have 33% of trophies unlocked so far. I have a goal to achieve the Platinum trophy for this game. This will require long term dedication, especially since I usually don’t play for more than a few hours in one setting.
The game is still a blast to me. I am constantly unlocking new abilities and I haven’t explored even half of the map still. Exploration is so much fun in this game, the scenery and music is just so amazing. Challenging bamboo strikes, writing haikus, hot springs, fox dens, lighthouses, and so much more are to be discovered and completed.
I look forward to continuing to play this game until I get 100%. It will be the only game I play until Cyberpunk 2077 most likely. I still have quite a bit of time before that game launches.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I highly recommend this game, it is one of my favorite RPG’s of all time. The gameplay is super challenging and addicting, the landscape is my favorite setting of all time. The stories are very enjoyable and full of creative twists. I just think there’s so many new ideas in this game and the time period in which it is a set is one of my favorite in world history.
I’m just so happy this game is finally created and I have been given a chance to enjoy it. You should do the same!
