Illegal races, escape the police and your way to the top! These words can only mean one thing - Need For Speed. In 2004, however, we received something extraordinary, something that was inspired by the blockbuster movie "The Fast and the Furious". As a result, the game's atmosphere and gameplay attracted thousands of players to the screens of monitors and TV sets. Need for Speed Underground 2 is the next installment of the cult series about illegal car racing. In this part we are in the city of "Bayview", where our hero returns after a long break to show who is the fastest here.
That girl was always pretty :D
Unfortunately, the way to the top is not easy. In the beginning, we are equipped with one of the starting cars, which, as you know, are not that fast. We also have to defeat many opponents, as I mentioned with the starting car. During the rest of the game, we strive for the best car and respect in the district by winning races. We get money that we can then spend on better cars and tuning, which I think is great. The action takes place in a big night city. Interestingly, we have an open piece of the world at our disposal, where we can move freely. In order to take part in the race, we have to go to the starting line. The same also applies to shops and workshops. We are led to each place by GPS. From what I can remember, it was one of the first car games that showed us the way, not the direction of our goal itself. The city that we are traversing is saturated with an amazing atmosphere of night life. The action is always happening at night, so we had the impression that this city never sleeps.
I remember that we used a phone and text messages to manage GPS, tasks and communication with the base. I don't know if it was needed that much, but it made a nice impression. As for the Mechanics itself, the game is Arcade racing. Driving is a lot of fun, also thanks to the fact that we had many racing modes - you could race by laps, one long route, there were also tracks on which we had to drift, there was also the possibility of a duel with another competitor whom we met while driving freely around city. An important element that helped us drive was Nitro - nitrous oxide, which served as an afterburner. Used at the right moment, it could completely change the position on the track, in addition, its replenishment was very satisfactory for the player. In order to recover the Nitro used up, we had to take risky actions - such as avoiding a head-on with other cars, keeping top speed and, if I remember correctly, drift.
As for the damage model, it also existed to some extent. When we hit another car at high speeds, it ended in a spectacular animation that made a real impression in 2004, at least for me. There was also a Multiplayer mode, but I never played it, and maybe because I had a pirated version of the game. When it comes to Need for Speed Underground 2, one of the most important elements of the game should be mentioned - modifications and tuning. We had a whole lot of different kinds of improvements at our disposal, be it in terms of performance or visual. When our car already had the latest suspension or engine, we started to look at our car. This is where the fairy tale begins - body color change, neon lights, counters and much more. Each car could look unrecognizable after visiting the workshop. The player could create it as he wanted, at his discretion, thanks to which we had the impression that we were driving our personal and unique cart.
Music in the game - that's what I remember the most. The music is amazing, energetic and perfectly suited to the atmosphere of a dark city. And this music during the race. Mastermind
