Step 1: Preparation
Before battling it out in the arena, you need to make two key decisions:
- Would you like to play Ranked or Casual?
- Would you like to play Battle or Duel?
Ranked vs. Casual
- Ranked Mode: Competing in ranked matches and climb the leaderboard (soon). We recommend starting here unless you want to practice.
- Casual Mode: Great for practicing or testing strategies without affecting your ranking.
Battle Mode (Recommended)
In Battle Mode, you'll face off against different players in a battle royale format. You begin with 5 health, and losing a round reduces your health by 1. Your primary goal is to achieve 10 wins. If you win at least 3 rounds, you'll earn a chest as a reward.
Duel Mode
In Duel Mode, you’ll battle another player in a 1v1 match. Both players start with 25 health and fight until one emerges victorious.
- For your first 5 daily wins, you'll earn 10 Crowns per victory.
- Duel Mode is only available during the following times (UTC):
- 5 AM - 6 AM
- 11 AM - 12 PM
- 7 PM - 8 PM
Step 2: Hero Selection
Once you’ve chosen your game mode, you’ll select a Hero from three randomly presented options. However, if you have fewer than 5 cards or 10 packs, the Hero will be selected randomly for you.
You might also notice a green background for two of the Heroes. This indicates their upgrade rarity, which influences the type of chest or rewards you’ll receive at the end of the match.
Note: In the arena, all players are equal. While higher-upgraded Heroes might earn more rewards, there’s no pay-to-win mechanic. The only advantage lies in choosing between three Heroes instead of receiving one at random. Only skill (and a bit of luck) determines who emerges victorious in the arena.
Step 3: Gameplay Basics
The game consists of two main phases:
- Recruit Phase
- Battle Phase
Recruit Phase
The Recruit Phase is where the game begins. Here’s what you need to know:
- Purchasing Cards: Buy cards from the shop by dragging them to the board or your hand. Each card costs 3 gold.
- Selling Cards: Cards can be sold for 1 gold (unless specified otherwise) by dragging them to the sell zone.
- Upgrading the Shop: Click on Upgrade (1) to level up your shop. Higher shop levels unlock better cards and increase the odds of finding stronger cards.
- Refreshing the Shop: Click Refresh (2) to replace the cards in the shop.
- Locking Cards: If you’re short on gold but want to keep specific cards for the next round, click Lock (3) to freeze the shop.
- Ready: If want to end the recruit phase, press the "Ready" (4) button.
Card Stats & Abilities
Each card has the following attributes:
- Attack (bottom-left): Can be melee, ranged, or magic.
- Health (bottom-right)
- Shop Level (top-left)
- Abilities (center): Hover over the card to see descriptions.
As you upgrade your shop, additional board slots will unlock (up to 8 slots), and slot buffs will increase in power. Slot buffs enhance cards placed in specific positions on the board. For example, in the image, two slots provide +1 Magic Damage.
Battle Phase
Once you’re ready (or time runs out in Duel Mode), the Battle Phase begins. Here’s how it works:
- Opponent Matching:
- In Battle Mode, opponents are chosen randomly based on your wins, losses, and draws.
- Card Combat:
- Cards attack left to right, targeting random enemy cards.
- If there’s a card in the front row, it will always be prioritized before attacking the back row.
- Winning Rounds:
- The player with cards remaining on the board wins the round.
- In Duel Mode, the losing player takes damage equal to the total shop level of their opponent's cards.
At the end of each battle, the Recruit Phase begins again.
You’ll gain 1 extra gold each round, up to a maximum of 10 gold. For example:
- Round 1: 3 Gold
- Round 2: 4 Gold
- Round 3: 5 Gold
Step 4: Rewards
At the end of the match, if you’ve won enough rounds, you might even earn a chest containing rewards.
That's It!
And that’s all you need to get started! While there’s much more depth to explore, these basics should give you a solid foundation to enjoy the game.
