[ESP/ENG] Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge: #13 ¿Qué tan grande fue mi colección Retro Gamer? | How big was my Retro Gamer collection?

Me gustaría dividir la colección que tuve en dos partes: consolas y juegos. Si hablo de consolas llegué a tener en mi casa varias consolas viejas, algunas que no servían y otras que seguían funcionando. La primera consola que tuvo mi papá fue Magnavox Odyssey de la marca Philips la cual adquirió en Estados Unidos cuando estudiaba en la universidad, y mi papá me cuenta que lo juegos que tenía la consola eran bastantes simples ya que simulaban juegos de mesa como el tenis y cosas así, no pasaba mucho tiempo jugando aunque lo entretenía en algunas ocasiones. La cosola que más lo marcó fue un Atari 2600 la cual compró en el año 1978 cuando comenzaron a llegar a Venezuela. Creo que muchos conocerán esa consola ya que fue increíblemente popular en su época y siendo parte de una nueva generación de consolas que usaban joysticks. Mi papá me cuenta que los juegos de Atari eran más innovadores ya que tenían una jugabilidad más cómoda e implementaban historias que debías tomar en cuenta para poder resolver los puzzles. Los gráficos estaban mayormente en 20bits y la música era muy característica al estar en estilo pixel.

I would like to divide the collection I had in two parts: consoles and games. If I talk about consoles, I had several old consoles in my house, some that were no longer useful and others that were still working. The first console my dad had was the Philips Magnavox Odyssey, which he acquired in the United States when he was in college, and my dad tells me that the games that the console had were quite simple since they simulated board games like tennis and things like that, he didn't spend much time playing although it entertained him on some occasions. The console that marked him the most was an Atari 2600 which he bought in 1978 when they began to arrive in Venezuela. I think many will know that console since it was incredibly popular in its time and being part of a new generation of consoles that used joysticks. My dad tells me that the Atari games were more innovative as they had a more comfortable gameplay and implemented stories that you had to take into account in order to solve the puzzles. The graphics were mostly in 20bits and the music was very characteristic as it was in pixel style.

Luego tuvo una Nintendo NES la cual era grande y el control era rectangular, que para mi siempre fue más cómodo que el control de Nintendo 64, consola que mi papá adquirió tiempo después. Aquí se podía notar un avance en la calidad de jugabilidad y gráficos que aunque seguían siendo algo diferentes a lo que estamos acostumbrados, para esa época era algo revolucionario ya que se estaba proyectando diseñar juego en gráficos de 3D. Nintendo siempre tuvo una gran lista de juego increíbles de NES y 64, como Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Super Mario, Mega Man, etc y recuerdo las veces que soplábamos los cartuchos de los juegos cuando no corrían. Luego de ello como regalo de cumpleaños número 5, mis padres me dieron una PlayStation 1 con la que pasé gran parte de mi infancia jugando cosas como Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Harry Potter, Tekkenn y muchos otros más que fui conociendo. Me la pasaba jugando muchísimo con mi primo y recuerdo que buscábamos algunos trucos de algunos juegos en una página web llamada "Trucoteca", donde conocíamos algunos glitch y combinaciones de botones para tener más recompensas, vidas y pasar niveles de manera más sencillas.

Nintendo always had a great list of incredible NES and 64 games, such as Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Super Mario, Mega Man, etc. and I remember the times we used to blow the game cartridges when they didn't run. After that as a 5th birthday present, my parents gave me a PlayStation 1 with which I spent most of my childhood playing things like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Harry Potter, Tekkenn and many others that I got to know. I spent a lot of time playing with my cousin and I remember that we used to look for some tricks of some games in a web page called "Trucoteca", where we knew some glitches and button combinations to get more rewards, lives and pass levels in an easier way.

En cuanto a videojuegos aún conservamos algunos, ya que algunas consolas viejas las vendimos por razones personales ya que originalmente no las queríamos vender, al igual que algunos juegos, sin embargo tenemos algunos guardados en cajas por si algún día podemos recuperar esas consolas. Llegamos a tener muchísimos juegos de las consolas que hablé anteriormente. Para el Atari 2600 recuerdo que no teníamos tantos juegos, los que más destacaban eran varios clásicos como Tetris, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders y Pac-Man, los cuales fueron una motivación para las salas de juego arcade, lugares donde comprabas monedas para ´ponerlos en las máquinas y jugar. En cuanto a las NES sí teníamos más de 20 juegos de los que más destacaban una version de Tetris para esta consola, Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Megan Man, Legend of Zelda y Gradius que eran los juegos que más jugaba. Para Nintendo 64 sí teníamos un montón, mi papá tenía el Ocarina Of Time dorado que era hermosísimo y uno de los juegos que conservaba con más cariño, también teníamos el Majora's y otros juegos más que eran increíbles, como Bajo Kazooie, Doom, otro juego de Donkey Kong, Pokemon Stadium, Star Fox, Super Smash y un montón de juegos más.

As for video games we still have some, as we sold some old consoles for personal reasons as we originally did not want to sell them, as well as some games, however we have some in boxes in case someday we can recover those consoles. We came to have lots and lots of games from the consoles I talked about earlier. For the Atari 2600 I remember we didn't have so many games, the ones that stood out the most were several classics like Tetris, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and Pac-Man, which were a motivation for the arcade game rooms, places where you bought coins to 'put them in the machines and play. As for the NES we did have more than 20 games of which the most outstanding were a version of Tetris for this console, Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Megan Man, Legend of Zelda and Gradius which were the games I played the most. For Nintendo 64 we had a lot, my dad had the golden Ocarina Of Time that was beautiful and one of the games that he kept with more affection, we also had Majora's and other games that were incredible, like Under Kazooie, Doom, another Donkey Kong game, Pokemon Stadium, Star Fox, Super Smash and a lot of other games.

Para Playstation 1 sí tenía MUCHÍSIMOS, ya que con esa consola pasé gran parte de mi niñez jugando y también parte de mi adolescencia incluso teniendo un Playstation 2, recuerdo que tenía un estante en un cuarto aparte donde guardaba mis juegos ya que mi cuarto ya estaba lleno de peluches, juguetes y libros del colegio, por lo que no tenía lugar donde guardar los juegos. De los que recuerdo y pude conseguir son Crash Bandicoot, Pepsiman, Gran Turismo, Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal (gracioso porque yo jugaba este juego sin ver las películas o leer los libros), juegos de varias películas de Disney, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear, Chrono Cross, y muchos más que si sigo nombrando no termino jamás, ya que también hay muchísimos que tuve basados en películas, comiquitas y animes que amaba. Muchos de estos juegos no los conservo porque como dije antes, se vendieron junto a las consolas por motivos personales, pero estoy segura que en un futuro con trabajo duro podré recobrar mi colección retro gamer de consolas y juegos. Espero poder hablarles en un futuro post de todos los juegos que he tenido y como los disfruté! Ya que es lindo recordar esos momentos tan geniales.

For Playstation 1 I had a LOT, since with that console I spent most of my childhood playing and also part of my adolescence even having a Playstation 2, I remember I had a shelf in a separate room where I kept my games since my room was already full of stuffed animals, toys and books from school, so I had no place to keep the games. Of the ones I remember and could get are Crash Bandicoot, Pepsiman, Gran Turismo, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (funny because I played this game without watching the movies or reading the books), games from several Disney movies, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Final Fantasy, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear, Chrono Cross, and many more that if I keep naming I will never finish, since there are also many I had based on movies, comics and anime that I loved. Many of these games I don't keep them because as I said before, they were sold together with the consoles for personal reasons, but I'm sure that in the future with hard work I will be able to recover my retro gamer collection of consoles and games. I hope to be able to tell you in a future post about all the games I had and how I enjoyed them! Since it's nice to remember those cool moments.
