As per my knowledge, sunflower blooms around the month of March here in the Philippines, where summertime is starting to hit off. People who planted their sunflower seeds the whole year would love to see the flowers follow the sun.
But there are people who cannot afford to buy a few seeds and plant them in their backyard, like me. The only choice I have is to visit some sunflower farms when the time is up for the flowers to bloom. And this year in 2022, I visited a farm in our town: The Blooms & Venoms.
I had a chance to meet the owner but didn’t get the opportunity to take pictures with her. She got the name of the farm from her cats, Bloom and Venom. She told us a short story about her journey in opening and starting the said farm. After she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, she made sure to excel in this field and apply everything she learned from her course.
It is when she started researching the plants that can be planted in the lands and soil of Zambales. And since the province is known for Mangoes, she thought of something more interesting. It is when she took chances on planting sunflowers on their farm and opened it for the people to see and witness the season when they bloom.
As I started walking along the paths in between the flowers, I am mesmerized and amazed by the beauty of each sunflower I see. I admired the color, texture, and figure of every flower I bumped into while walking. I went there with my partner, but we did not get a chance to have a picture together because he was so busy capturing the scenic view on the farm.
But I am lucky because he insisted to take pictures of me and asked me to take some poses while he clicks the camera. I took the chance to smile, pose, and pretend like I am a model in the middle of a beautiful sunflower farm. It took us a while to look and stare at the flowers and even felt more amazed when we saw some flowers of a different variety. Some sunflowers have a yellowish color, and some are orange.
Also, we saw some with some reddish color as well. We didn’t have a chance to ask further questions about the flowers anymore because they entertained the other people roaming around too. I am planning to go back again and I hope the renovations and other improvements on the farm will be done when I go back.
While walking and embracing the beauty of the flowers that bloomed at that moment, realizations hit me. We have our own perfect timing, and one thing in life is for sure – we will bloom no matter how long it takes. Like the sunflowers, I can say that I will only trust the process and endure every storm that comes my way because once it’s my time to bloom and shine, it will be worth it.
