First of all, I can't wait to show off my new garden. I had it done a few weeks ago, digging up all the crap and clay, and replaced it with fresh soil and new turf. Now I have a very nice garden again!
Then I did a bit of cosmetic tidying up. The area at the back of the garden doesn't get much sunlight, so I've converted that into a bedding. I've planted a marigold in there for the time being to give it a bit of colour. After summer I will replant my lavender here to let it grow.
And in the rest of my garden...
At it's peak, I had 9 courgettes growing, but a few of them started to turn yellow and rot at the end. Apparently that was due to lack of calcium. Luckily I've been saving all my eggshells, and I quickly grind them down to powder and fed it to my courgette plant. Then I cut off a lot of leaves to improve air circulation. And hey presto! Now I have less courgettes but they're all nice and healthy.
My tomato plants still aren't growing as well as I would like. There are quite a few trusses of tomato but most are still green. Either they're not going to grow, or I'm suddenly going to get a massive harvest of tomato soon. We shall see.
I've grown some Chinese mustard in front of the tomatoes. It's the first time I've grown them, and they're doing well so far. The annoying thing is that despite netting them, some bugs have still been nibbling at the them. Luckily the situation seems to have stabilised now and not worsened.
In my last garden journal I showed you my lettuce. They are really so easy to grow and tonight I harvested a lot to make a salad. It was so tender and smooth, the best salad I've had!!! With many more to come.
My bitter gourd is still plotting along, but not grown much. I found out recently bitter gourd is best grown in greenhouses in UK. No wonder. I don't think mine will be going very far, but it seems it is trying. There's even grown a tiny fruit. How cute!!
The other month I read from @anggreklestari that water spinach was very easy to grow and can be harvested in 30 days. And I liked the sound of that. Mine are already a month old now, and they're still a long way away from harvest. The weather here is a lot colder than Indonesia, but I hope they'll still get there soon.
Last and not the least, my gladioli from my mum's patch. They have come in full bloom in the past couple of weeks and are absolutely beautiful. It's sad to see them reach the end of their life already, but I know they'll be back again next year.
Before I go, I want to remind everyone of my Hive PPP Index. I'm looking for people to tell me the price of a basket of goods in your country and it would be great if you can help. You can find more information here. Thanks.

I'm writing this as a Chit Chat Friday series of post with the objective of driving up engagement and communication on Hive. The content will evolve around daily life things making it easy for everyone to take part to engage with one another. Hopefully it will interest you to make genuine engagement instead of two word spams like "Nice photos" "Very beautiful" or calling bots. I will be muting those comments.
