It's been over 2 months since I did my last garden report. There isn't much happening in my garden as it's winter, but I'm glad to report that the little I have going on is thriving through the winter. First is the Wolfberry. They're coming along nicely and have become very leafy for their small size. I can't wait for them to grow bigger.
I planted my garlic plants just before I did my last garden report at the end of November. Originally I thought the bulbs would stay in the soil over the winter and grow when it gets warmer. I was shocked and worried when they started to grow leaves and thought I had done something wrong. Then I googled it and found out that is supposed to happen, so I'm quite chilled now. I hope I will get a nice harvest in summer.
Today, I spent some time to re-pot my aloe vera and succulent plants as they were getting out of hand. I also need to do it for my HPUD Guessing Contest, something that I've been putting off for way too long.
This is my one of my aloe vera plant. It's the biggest one and has a lot of baby plants. Some of the leaves of the main plant are starting to break as there's a lot of traffic next to it.
The plant is getting a bit top heavy because my pot isn't deep enough for the long root. I think it will topple over soon, so there was only one solution... but I didn't know if it was the right one.
I took the plunge and gave it the snip!! Ouch! I hope it will survive
Now it's looking a lot better. And after I repotted it, I noticed it had a bud. I didn't see it before because the plant was like a forest. I hope the bud will flower soon. There were 17 baby aloe vera plants and I've repotted them in two pots.
Answers to February HPUD Guessing Contest
This is the succulent plant from my February HPUD Guessing Contest. It doesn't have many roots and the baby plants are actually shoots from the original plant, and not separate plants like the aloe vera. I didn't realise that, and had to careful pry the shoots off.
There were 14 and this is the answer to this month's Guessing Contest. This month there were 46 entries and despite my tip of 8 to 15 baby plants, I got answers ranging from 7 from @nanixxx to 35 from @bozz. Well done guys but you were a bit out of range 😄
There are two winners, congrats to @jobeliever who has powered up on HPUD, and @micheal87. This year I've changed the prize to 100 Hive Power which is in line with the objective of HPUD.

Starting next month, I will be adding a new rule that winners will only be qualified for the prize if they haven't powered down in the month before HPUD. It's pointless for me to power up to someone only for them to power down, it goes against HPUD objective. I will also reserve the right to not award the prize to anyone who is habitually powering down or liquidising their rewards. I know some winners may end up not getting their prize, but Hive can only grow if we're here for the long run. Either way, I hope you can still join in my HPUD Guessing Contest. See you in March.
