Waiting (and Preparing) for the Altseason
Esattamente 4 years ago, at the peak of the bull market and when many projects, Splinterlands included, were literally making small investors rich, my adventure on Splinterlands began... just in time to witness a crash of the entire market and the start of a bear market that lasted for years.
Then things started to get better, with BTC hitting one ATH after another over the past year and several projects beginning to recover, reaching interesting values again.
What I need now, and I imagine I’m not alone, is a true altseason, pouring wealth and capital into all those projects that continued to build and improve during the bear market, like Hive and Splinterlands.
This would be my first time facing a bull market with a sufficient amount of assets—not enough to achieve financial independence, unless Hive decides to pull off a nice x100—but at least enough to have fun and, if I play my cards right, end up with a significant dollar value that could become the starting base for aiming really high in the next cycle.
And Splinterlands can play a role in all of this, as we know it has used these years to improve and strengthen its position, introducing new card expansions, game modes, and mechanics, making it an increasingly complete and fun game.
Of course, play2earn games have shown over the past few years that they suffered from the bear market more than other projects, and today the enthusiasm that once surrounded this sector seems almost completely gone—and I, for one, am not sure whether the future will truly be more or less promising.
This is also why, to be honest, I feel more comfortable betting on a token like HIVE rather than SPS: both have use cases and are at the center of ecosystems with great potential, but I have the feeling that play2earn games face an additional hurdle when it comes to convincing people of their seriousness and sustainability.
On the other hand, I’ve never hidden the fact that I don’t agree with the play2earn concept: for me, web3.0 games should guarantee the ownership of one’s own assets, not promise incredible and hardly sustainable earnings.
I even wrote a post about it years ago, and my opinion hasn’t changed one bit since then.
From DEC to HIVE
That’s why my strategy on Splinterlands right now is to convert the DEC I earn—every time I reach 10,000—into HIVE.
As already happened a few weeks ago, when the price of HIVE reached around 28 cents, this strategy could allow me to multiply the DEC I own, reconverting my HIVE back into DEC at the right moment.
Of course, I need to be careful not to be greedy or overly optimistic and to understand when it’s the right time to make the conversion... but I believe that HIVE, more than SPS, could truly benefit from an altseason that all of us are increasingly impatiently waiting for.
When, and if, I manage to successfully carry out this operation, I will be able to significantly increase my investment in Splinterlands, hoping that, thanks to all the work done so far, this game could be the first to prove me wrong and show me that play2earn games still have a lot to offer.

Aspettando (e Preparandomi) alla Altseason
Esattamente 4 anni fa, all'apice del bull market e quando moltissimi progetti, Splinterlands incluso, stavano rendendo letteralmente ricchi piccoli investitori, è iniziata la mia avventura su Splinterlands... appena in tempo per assistere ad un tracollo dell'intero mercato ed all'inizio di un bear market che è durato anni.
Poi le cose sono cominciate ad andare meglio, con BTC che ha segnato nell'ultimo anno un nuovo ATH dietro l'altro e diversi progetti che hanno cominciato a riprendersi, toccando nuovamente valori interessanti.
Ciò di cui adesso avrei bisogno, ed immagino non solo io, è una vera e propria altseason, che riversi ricchezza e capitali in tutti quei progetti che durante il bear market hanno continuato a costruire e migliorarsi, come Hive e Splinterlands.
Questa per me sarebbe la prima volta in cui mi troverei ad affrontare un bull market avendo un quantitativo di assets sufficiente non a raggiungere l'indipendenza finanziaria - a meno che Hive non decida di fare un bel x100 - ma almeno a divertirmi e ritrovarmi, se mi gioco bene le mie carte, con un controvalore in dollari importante, che potrebbe diventare la base di partenza, nel prossimo ciclo, per puntare a quel punto davvero in alto.
Ed un ruolo in tutto ciò può averlo anche Splinterlands, che come ben sappiamo ha sfruttato questi anni per migliorarsi e rafforzare sempre più la propria posizione, introducendo nuove espansioni di carte, modalità di gioco e meccaniche, così da diventare un gioco sempre più completo e divertente.
Certo, i giochi play2earn negli ultimi anni hanno dimostrato di aver sofferto il bear market più degli altri progetti e oggi l'entusiasmo che allora segnava questo settore sembra quasi praticamente scomparso ed io per primo non so se il futuro possa davvero essere più o meno promettente.
E' anche per questo che, se devo essere sincero, mi sento più a mio agio a scommettere su un token come Hive che non su SPS: entrambi hanno casi d'uso e si trovano al centro di ecosistemi dotati di grandi potenzialità, ma ho come la sensazione che i giochi play2earn debbano affrontare uno scalino in più quando si tratta di convincere la gente della loro serietà e sostenibilità.
D'altra parte non ho mai nascosto di non condividere il concetto di play2earn: per me i giochi del web3.0 dovrebbero garantire il possesso dei propri assets, e non promettere guadagni mirabolanti e difficilmente sostenibili.
Ci ho scritto anche un post anni fa e la mia idea da allora non è minimamente cambiata.
Da DEC ad HIVE
Per questo la mia strategia su Splinterlands prevede, in questo momento, la conversione del DEC che ottengo - ogni volta che arrivo a 10.000 - in HIVE.
Come già successo poche settimane fa, quando il prezzo di HIVE è arrivato intorno ai 28 centesimi, questa strategia potrebbe consentirmi di moltiplicare il DEC che possiedo, riconvertendo i miei HIVE in DEC al momento opportuno.
Ovviamente devo stare attento a non essere avido o troppo ottimista e capire quando è il momento giusto di effettuare la conversione... ma credo che HIVE, più che SPS, possa davvero trarre beneficio da una altseason che, un po' tutti, ormai stiamo attendendo sempre più con impazienza.
Quando, e se, mi riuscirà di condurre in porto questa operazione sarò in grado di incrementare notevolmente il mio investimento su Splinterlands, nella speranza che, grazie a tutto il lavoro che è stato fatto fino ad oggi, questo gioco possa essere il primo a smentirmi e dimostrarmi che i giochi play2earn hanno ancora tanto da dire.
