The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.

About the Quote
We all want to know or discover our purpose in life. Many people are fortunate to have made that discovery. Many more people haven't been as lucky; for this group, some need more time that others as they move from one thing to another.
Maybe we have it backward.
We all have gifts and talents assigned to us the moment we're born. Hovever, what they are for each person is a mystery until we discover it. For some of us it's athletics; for others it's academics; for a different set of others it's artistic pursuits; for yet others not noted earlier it's who knows what else. Whatever gifts we have, we need to discover them, and that doesn't happen by doing nothing or staying within the comfort zone.
Once we discover the gift we have which defines our purpose, we do all we can to share that gift with others. As an athlete, we compete for championships as well as entertain the spectators who want to see us play in that sport. For those of us inclined toward academics, we add to the sum total of the world's knowledge (even if that knowledge is controversial such as forbidden archeology or UFOlogy). Those of us gifted in the performing arts-- musicians, dancers, actors, and the behind-the-scenes crews which help make the performances possible-- give the audience a respite from the grind of daily life or a personal pain we acquire suddenly. As we go about using our gifts in these areas and others, along the way we make everyone else glad they spent time and/or money to watch us.
Some (More) Information about Pablo Picasso
As early as age 10, Pablo Ruiz-- still years from adopting the more famous name-- displayed his artistic talent. This is when he became a student of his father, JosΓ© Ruiz Blasco. At the time, in 1891, the family was living in the town of A CoruΓ±a in northwest Spain. After a short time as his father's art pupil, Ruiz reached the point where his abilities were superior to that of his father-teacher. As a result of this development, Ruiz Blasco focused on giving his prodigious son all the support and assistance he needed for his first art exhibit when Ruiz was 13.
In autumn 1895, when Ruiz was around 14, the family moved to Barcelona in the Mediterranean province of Catalonia. There his father had a teaching position at La Llotja art academy, where he taught drawing. Ruiz's family hoped that he would be successful as an academic painter, and the family's hopes were justified when, in 1897, Ruiz warned honorable mention at that year's Fine Arts Exhibition in the Spanish capital of Madrid. Ruiz had painted a work titled _Science and Charity," and the doctor appearing in the painting was modeled by his father.
That same year Ruiz went to Madrid to enroll at the Royal Academy of San Fernando. After only a short time as a student there, Ruiz determined that the teaching there was "stupid"; as a result, Ruiz painted or drew whatever he saw outside the academy. Ruiz painted or drew scenes from cafes, streets, the Prado Museum, even brothels. It was at the Prado where Ruiz discovered the greats of Spnish painting, especially VelΓ‘zquez, El Greco , and Goya. Ruiz (as Picasso) would return to these artists for inspiration over the years.
