Hi all!
Yesterday evening I arrived on my family holiday destination the Belgium Ardennes! While the drive should had been roughly 2,5h it took us close to 6h to get to the destination - but we made it!
Today on our first day we started with a hike to a canyon with my girl. Roughly 5km with loads of fun and beautiful views!
As today the temperature was well above 30 C we spend most of our afternoon in and around the swimming pool. When the kids went to bed it was time for me to put on my hiverun shirt and to explore the area a bit with a fun run!
The goal for my first run here was mostly to discover how the roads are, if the trails are indeed open - but also as some safety measures - part of the runs here are on are the car road where they are allowed to go 90km/h and the vision in the curves was very limited - especially as there are no road lights for later in the evening.
So perfectly fine for this time of the day, but when I am going for a longer run - I will make sure to run earlier. For now the evening was very fine - especially because the temperature was still high it was perfect for some light fun!
My route was +/- 4.5 km on the road and +/- 3,5 km on trails. On the road was a little climb but nothing too heavy. The trails were very cool! Especially where the trails had a little climb or decline I really had the time of my life!
For the next few days I will try to find runs with a little more climb but my first impression of the Belgium Ardennes as a running destination is pretty cool!
Happy running!
