Applying simple math, one would expect when something is cloned, we end up with double the original. But when applying this to STEEM and HIVE, the truth seems to be different.
Although this simple rule seems to apply to the values of STEEM/SBD and HIVE/HBD - the result is more or less double of what we had when HIVE didn't exist - This doesn't seem to be the case for community activities.
Adding up the number of posts published to both chains, the total is less than before the clone was initiated. I mean, compared to weeks before the cloning process actually happened, before TRON announced the purchase of Steemit Inc. Similar results for comments.
Comment/Post ratio is higher at HIVE, but we don't have metrics to determine how many of these comments are bot generated and how many human generated. Therefor we can't conclude if - human - engagement levels are different in both communities.
Interested to check the stats yourself?
Am quite curious why community activities has dropped this much. Why the total activities are less than what we had a month or two ago? Knowing the fact that quite a few users post their content on both chains, one would definitely not expect a reduction in number of published posts.
Added to that the quarantine time we are all in, This is giving - most of us - more spare time (no travelling to/from work, less work for many of us). However this extra free time isn't converted into more activities on STEEM and HIVE in total, so it seems.

Maybe we use the extra time we have to our disposal for self reflection? Psychologist and other advisors are constantly telling us: Now it is the time for self reflection; The time to figure out what we want from life; The time to determine if we like to continue our paths or change.
I would be very happy when this turns out to be the reason for the decrease in activities.
That said - dear reader - please do not forget about STEEM and also do not forget about HIVE. Both chains and ecosystems are there; Both will have some kind of roadmap; Both are geared for success. When we all join hands; We think and act as a whole; We can make a mark in history!
With STEEM and HIVE the world will be a different place!
We have to work for it though! Nothing happens by itself. We have to work hard. We have to work together. We have to have a common goal.
Some say, only the sun is for free and is there always. But even that can be debated. There is a time before the sun was born, and there will be a time after as well :)
Until Artificial Intelligence can replicate the behaviours and thought processes of humans, communities are formed and grown based on sharing information, knowledge, opinions and thoughts. Both STEEM and HIVE are the perfect places - in next generation social networks arena - to do so.
Sure, many other networks were created in recent years, but many of them with very low usage still; Most of them didn't had the free publicity one gets from having a coin in the top 100 of the more than 5000 coins and tokens in the market. But we do! So let us not waste that wonderful free instrument!
To be able to reflect, we also need to be able to relax and clear our minds. Music always helps, at least for me. I'll share you one of the recordings that I listen to quite regularly to get myself into the 'zone'...
