During this week I have been testing Talent Protocol and all its functionalities. You can read about this DAO and service it in this post from a couple of days ago.
One of the things that caught my attention was their PFP collection and the way they offer that to their users. You need to be verified to be able to mint a free PFP (you only pay the transaction fees and they use Polygon). They request verification so people do not abuse minting more than one NFT. There are several account verification methods to make sure you are human and only have one account, one of them is worldcoin id.
The nice thing about their PFP collection is you can choose your traits. There are two basic skins (male and female) to select from and then there are up to eight different options you can play around with to get your final image and mint it if you are a verified account. I love the idea of offering this kind of interaction to the user who is willing to play with different design options of the PFP collection and decide which final art he/she wants.
I am not sure if they check whether your final choice is still "free" before letting you mint it so you have unique art, or if there can be several users with the same final design, but either way, it is a nice and unique approach to owning your avatar.
On top of all the trait options, the collection has different "skins" depending on what profile you have in the community. Most users will be just that, "basic users", but there are skins for contributors, team members, and so on. They also plan to release new skins in the future so you will be able to mint a new NFT when you progress and upgrade your account. PFPs will also have utility and will let users who own them reach certain levels of rights in the community.
This is the design I ended up creating for my account.
You can test yourself by going to the minting site and playing with the tool, you will be able to create the image from whatever traits you choose and even download the design, but you will not be able to mint the NFT if you are not a verified member of the service. You can read about the collection, what the current skins are, and their plans for the future in their Talent Mates Collection Site. Here's a video presentation of the collection.
