Yes, I am running my usual parkrun again. It is just so convenient for me. Mind you, I did find myself leaving home a little later than usual, but I was still at the start in time for the usual briefing. It was looking like a good turnout. I saw a crowd of people crossing the bridge as I arrived at the station. Maybe they parked on the village side, but most people who drive there seem to use the other car park on the far side.
It felt a little warmer today and the course is totally dried up. You just have to watch out for ruts and tree roots. I nearly tripped on a root when I was walking to the start.
My pace for the first lap was not too bad, but I could just not sustain it. I still have a little pain from my ribs and my hip was playing up a bit. I had a mass of people just ahead of me, but I could not catch them. A few others passed me on the last stretch. The dips in pace are all at the corners where you tend to slow down anyway and there is a slightly climb on one. I gave it all I had on the finishing straight, but there was not much speed left in my legs.
I came 44th out of 119. That is a good turnout and I hope it stays high. I may volunteer again in the next week or two. I will be away one Saturday soon, but will see if there is an opportunity for a different parkrun.
I walked a little bit on the way home and jogged the rest. I was really hot by then and needed to cool down before my shower.
This was me cooling down at home. I do not take my phone on the run. I doubt the extra weight would slow me down, but it is an extra distraction. I just take my door key and barcode tag on a lanyard.
Run free and stay well.
