So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the second topic for this week which is “RECYCLING PRACTICES”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “MONETIZING SOCIAL MEDIA”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their thoughts on the monetization of social media and how it has played a huge role in the kind of content that content creators put out today.
From fake news to controversial posts, people are always willing to go all out just to drive up engagement that will in turn translate into money for them. Many see it as the best thing to happen to social media, but many also blame monetization for the substandard content that is now commonplace across most platforms.
For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w160e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

This author told us that with the rate at which people post fake news online or controversial stuff, the blame can’t be placed on money, the act of monetization, or the reward system. Instead, the blame is on those who try to take advantage of the system by posting just about anything that they are sure would boost their earnings.

For this author, he told us that social media is basically a great way to do the things that we already do on a daily basis. Communicating, voicing our opinions, and sharing our thoughts with the world. According to him, monetizing is not bad. It’s the crazy ones who are willing to do anything in search of fame and money, they’re the ones who are giving the platform a bad reputation.

For this author, he talked about content creators who were willing to make money by any means, without regard to the people that their fiery posts would hurt. However, he’s of the opinion that the advantages of monetization have far outweighed the disadvantages, seeing how it has provided lots of employment opportunities for young people.
