The world, in every space and sector, is constantly evolving. At every present point, there are always events that have gone in the past and also what have been projected to occur in the future. So basically everything is on the go and waits for nobody. It is left for you and every other living thing to catch up (or adapt).
The labour sector has also seen its fair share of some kind of revolution over the years. You know, from the industrial revolution that happened after the World Wars which required everyone to the present and all hands-on physically on deck up to the time where virtual work now exists such that your presence is not even needed.
Now, consider the concept of freelancing and full-time employment here. Most of us grew up seeing our parents do the while loop. They believe and work in a setting where you just have to find a job perhaps after school, go on and on every day, sit in a position for some decades and finally retire. And wait till death comes knocking. This is what is basically called the 9 – 5 job. Here, you are under an overall employer who, of course, supervises you and you just have to play according to the rules set down for goals to be achieved. You get renumerated with wages or salary.
On the other hand, being a freelancer entails you being able to conduct business without solely relying on the rules set by someone else. Or being confined to the four walls of an office and the 9-5 hour. Freelancing is such that you dictate the rules of your own free will such that only those who accept it get the services you offer. In the life, we are in, who does not like his freedom? Like I said above, being able to dictate the rules and regulations per time as to how you want some transactions to go is key.
Most people on a full-time job are confined to a position – not only physically – and no free will is in there per time. A regular full-time job is one that involves the employees doing almost the same thing every day for months or years perhaps. Being creative is not encouraged due to the fact that the employers have set the rules to be played by. Why do we have to repeat tasks which could end up being boring? In freelancing, you can not box yourself into a corner. You set how you want your schedule to be and this preaches flexibility in structure.
In fact, some people are not happy doing what they are doing. Many people chose to do their current job because half bread is better than none. You know, one rule in coding is Don’t repeat yourself (DRY). That is why coding requires being creative else you will get tired. This does not happen to a freelancer because you are the one to choose what goods or services you wish to offer to people and the rate you want. As you move on in the journey, little consistent changes are what you need to introduce by yourself just to step up your game. You get to be as creative to the maximum.
In as much as, everything has its merits and otherwise. Being a full-time employee in some parts of the world is the better way of being financially secure. This stems from a scenario such that that is what is available for survival in that area. Likewise freelancing nowadays is getting more competitive than ever due to the fact that more people want to own their remote control. So to make your mark in the world of freelancing requires you to do what you do for more than a short time to break even. Basically, you have to prove your worth to many people before you can earn more.
Conversely, in the other world, you only need to prove something to the employers during the hiring session, and you are done. Your employers are the ones to be doing some proof to their customers outside there.
Nevertheless, freelancing is the better of the two any day anytime. I can do my thing in the comfort of my home and at my set time. It generally preached independence. Who does not want that hands in the air? Definitely, no hands! ✌️
