What a weird title for a #WednesdayWalk, isn't it? But, it has an explanation as everything else... There is a street in the neighboring town that is called El Planet, and on top of the hill is an elementary school with the same name... Which one was the first, I have no idea, but I call that whole part of the town El Planet...
There are many roads that are leading to the school and all of them are "in-between" the orangeries, gardens, and fields... As that part is very quiet with almost no traffic, I like to do my daily walks there a lot... and, as there are many ways to get there, I like to mix things up and choose different paths on every walk...
This time, I will lead you to a short 1.5-hour walk there... In one of my previous posts, you have already seen a small part of it, but this time, we are going there from a different side...
<-------------------------------->
80% of my daily walks begin on this short path that is situated only 100 meters from my building... The rest 20% goes to another side, where is the sea, and we were there last week
One of the great customs of people here is to grow flowers "over the fence"... Of course, not everyone does that, but those who do, have the most beautiful fences...
The next stop is passing by an old irrigation system that is still used by many people in this area... As we have a very small amount of rain here, it is crucial for agriculture to have water reserves...
Occasionally, they are cleaning these canals, but it looks that they didn't do it recently... A lot of underwater algae have grown inside...
One of the most magnificent trees (for me), besides the olive tree, is a carob tree... It's amazing how resistant to cruel weather conditions and lack of water it is... You can see a lot of carob trees like this one, with an old stem (log), with new branches... You can't kill this tree easily!
<-------------------------------->
For a short time, we are back in civilization... To get to the peaceful part of the town, we have to cross the regional road... There is a traffic light here, so I had time to take a photo...
After just 50 meters, we can see a completely different picture... No cars, no traffic, no noise... Clear road ahead!
At this time of the year, we can see a lot of "baby pinecones" and how they start to form their shape...
You probably remember these weird flowers... Yes, I'm still trying to take a perfect photo of it, but still without success... (I took a couple, but only this one wasn't that much blurred... lol...)
The name of the road is written in Valenciano, which is the Catalan language, but still, they want to present it as different... What does it mean? I have no idea, but I have asked my friend who was going to school in Valenciano... and she didn't know either... lol...
This is one of my favorite flowers... It is huge (more-less like a human's head) and it looks so perfect that it's hard to believe that it is natural... lol... Seriously, it looks like some plastic flower from a Chinese store... This photo is probably the best one in this collection!
<-------------------------------->
I know that the #ShadowHunters community is huge and when I saw this, I had to take a photo... :)
Now, there are some badass cactuses... I'm not sure about their size, but I would say that their height is between 4 and 6 meters! That thing is huge even when you compare it to the wall that is around 2 meters high! Btw., that cactus type isn't rare here and you can see it in many private yards and gardens...
I was speaking earlier about the "flower fence" and here we have one example... It's not the prettiest as it's not a blooming season for that flowers, but it's still beautiful...
Before this, I had a choice to go left or right... The right would lead us to that early-mentioned school, but this time, we are going left, and slowly moving back home... As I don't like to go back by the same road, most of my walking routes are circular... :)
Behind this wall and flags is one of the many camping sites that we have... As many retired people from all around Europe are coming here, camping places are ultra-popular...
<-------------------------------->
This road, which looks like it has survived WW3 is leading us to civilization... Behind that white house, there is another regional road that we will have to follow for a short time...
But, before getting there, meet the strangest store ever! When I moved here, this was the first time that I saw a store where you can buy chocolates and flowers! What a great idea! So, if your girl/wife is mad at you, you know where you have to go to buy a gift... 😂
I'm choosing a dirty side of the road... :)
The first bridge that we have to pass under is a railway bridge...
Others have told me that this is the Ricinus plant... Maybe it is, maybe not, but it was cool to take a photo of it... :)
The second one is a normal road bridge...
<-------------------------------->
Now, this is the building that brings me some nice memories... I came to live here 10 years ago, and somewhere in the first year or two, at this place was an open cinema, or movie theater... But, it was a summer cinema that was working for 2 months per year... The peculiar thing about it was that the atmosphere was amazing... People would come to watch a movie with their own beach chair, bringing a lot of food and drinks with themselves... and when I say food, I don't think only about popcorn, but also, hamburgers, chips, cakes, etc... lol...
The last flower before getting home where this narrow road leads...
I hope that you enjoyed today's #WednesdayWalk! Next time, we will go to visit some other places or maybe another route around the Planet!
Thank you for your valuable time,
ph
