Earlier today @elindos released a new article detailing the next steps in store for the eXode universe. If you have not checked it out already, we highly encourage you to read his post first.
Now that you are up to hyperspeed on the coming weeks, we have some more amazing news for you. Today we will reveal all remaining Origins the eXode Alpha Edition has to offer! All Origins you will see today are exclusively found in our Alpha Edition Boosters. So if you have not bought any of these yet, they are sold at 2$ each in our shop but you might find some special deals in the Starbase Market as well.
Our first contender is the Cruise Ship Captain. At first glance he seems a little ill prepared to be savior of mankind and founder of the first human colony on the other end of the galaxy. Maybe it was fate bringing him to the station during the alien attack, maybe he always knew he was destined for something big... or maybe he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever the cause, now he is here and now is his time to shine!
So what does this origin have to offer? First of all, he is a Civilian himself so he can only bring other crew that are also Civilian themselves. While that cuts him from a lot of the more combat oriented crew options, his +1 Civilian Synergy will make sure that all crew members will give it a little extra effort while he is around.
What really makes him unique is his complete focus on getting as many passengers on board as humanly possible during Evacuation. If you bring a decently big ship with you, he will add another 4 passenger capacity and reduce the time it takes to take in another civilian by 20%. This will allow him to rescue more human lives than any other Origin could even dream of. Well, at least if he finds a way to protect his recruitment crew from those pesky thugs hanging around in the Station Halls. Bringing a versatile combat specialist could be really important for the Cruise Ship Captain!
This Origin is going to be your number one choice whenever you want to start with a densely populated colony. While this will certainly allow you to get a head start on the competition you need to find ways to keep your colonists fed and sheltered. Bringing some Tom Settler goods with you for your new colony would go a long way here. It will certainly be possible to cope without some help from your Premium Buddies but it could make your live a lot easier, especially in the earliest days of your colony.
You have already met the Secret Agent in @elindos's article. She is a second addition to the military Origins. But while her military colleague, the Navy Lieutenant, is all about combat and open confrontation, the Secret Agent specializes in Stealth and Deception. That is not to say she does not know how to fight though. She still has a +1 Synergy for all military personal after all, but if the situation allows it, she prefers to handle her business more silently.
She also is the only Origin in the Alpha Edition with the Decrypt Federal ability, allowing her to use encrypted federal cargo. "What's that!?" you might ask yourself. Sadly, this information is classified so we are not allowed to share any details with you... However, there have been talks about secret Federation technology. Whispers that they knew about the Aliens and conceived a weapon. A weapon that never got assembled, its parts scattered across the galaxy. I need to stop here, my friendly Kilbot KB-119 is already giving me that look...
If you want to learn more and solve the mystery you totally have to start your Evacuation with the Secret Agent, get your hands on some encrypted federal cargo and start digging!
And there he finally is, our first (and so far only) legendary Origin - the Repentant Pirate! He is a special character indeed. Once known as one of the fiercest pirates in the known galaxy, the alien attack made him regret his deeds. He's not coming to the station to plunder but to save as many lives as possible!
Still, his criminal background shows in all his stats. He is bringing a whooping 3 Synergies to the table: +1 for Criminal, Violence and Low Morality. If you bring the right crew, this translates to an increase of +3 quality levels for everybody!
Running an all criminal crew is a tough business though. They all have their own mind and with their low morality and a tendency to get a little more violent than necessary, there is always going to be trouble on the horizon. With the Repentant Pirate this will no longer be an issue though. He instills Loyalty and Discipline in his crew, making it more likely that they actually follow your orders.
He is the perfect choice whenever you want to build a criminal crew. Having all those wonderful people from the Syndicate Sponsorship sitting in your account? Put them on a ship together with the Repentant Pirate and you are bound for the ride of your life. Although one has to wonder, if you bring The Kumicho herself as well - who is really going to be in charge of your crew?
