Hello everybody! And happy holidays!
I have been taking my holiday break to indulge and have a well deserved rest from everything, and a few days ago I went through my notepad for some inspiration since I felt like working on some new prints and I had a bunch of ideas written down.
I have previously shared over here my drypoint printing adventures, and this time I'll show you my recent work.
After some consideration I decided to make smaller 10 by 10 centimeters matrix because on my biggest one I really had a hard time with the inking process. So, I cutted the acetate sheets I would use and made some sketches, I wanted to keep my sort-of-religious theme because lately I've been taking a lot of inspiration on catholic imagery and went for a Lamb, using a plastic one as a reference. Crowns are another prompt I have been using a lot lately, so adding one to this lamb was a must, it really makes a difference and adds meaning to it, since I had in mind a Lamb-of-God sort of imagery, i really spaced up some details to avoid puddles of inke when I print it. I also had to put some sort of background because it didn't look as centered as I wanted. I used a thin nail for some of the details because I felt my iron point was too thick for them.
Then I went for a walk and found a three with a heart shaped growth and snapped a picture, later I made a sketch... And I thought "why not?". So when I got home I used my iron point to engrave it on another small acetate sheet that was cutted earlier. Now I'm looking forward to put them on the press and see how they look, I had never been so eager for vacation to be over.
I'll keep you guys updated once they're done.
Thank you for dropping by, I hope you are having an excellent holiday .
