I met the magical world of Harry Potter when I was thirteen years old ( approximately), that I dared to watch one of his movies by recommendation (and much insistence, hahaha) of a friend. Since then I got caught up in the plot and quickly became attached to all the characters.
Conocí el mundo mágico de Harry Potter cuando tenía trece años ( aproximadamente), que me atreví a ver una de sus películas por recomendación (y mucha insistencia, jajaja) de una amiga. Desde entonces quedé atrapada en la trama y me encariñé rápidamente con todos los personajes.
It had been a long time since I had drawn a character from this wonderful saga so I said to myself why not? I looked for some reference images to get inspired and I got down to work.
Hace mucho tiempo que no me dedicaba a dibujar a algún personaje de esta maravillosa saga así que me dije ¿por qué no? Busqué algunas imágenes de referencia para inspirarme y me puse manos a la obra.
I took a sheet of recycled paper and started to make the sketch using a very light pencil, H tone. With colored pencils I started to add color to the drawing just adding base tones.
Tomé una lámina de papel de reciclaje y empecé a hacer el boceto usando un lápiz muy claro, de tonalidad H. Con lápices de colores empecé a agregar color al dibujo solo añadiendo tonos base.
I started to play with the shades of the skin, hair and other elements by adding darker shades or different colors (for example: I added a dark blue tone to the hair).
Empecé a jugar con los matices de la piel, el cabello y otros elementos añadiendo tonalidades más oscuras o de distintos colores (ej. Añadí un tono azul oscuro al cabello).
With a 0.5mm black fine tip marker I outlined the contour of the drawing being very careful not to go outside the base line.
Con un marcador punta fina 0.5mm negro delineé el contorno del dibujo con mucho cuidado de no salirme de la línea base.
With white watercolor and a very thin brush I added some light to the drawing in some areas like the face and the hair, which gave more presence to the character and finalized the drawing.
Con acuarela blanca y un pincel muy delgado aporté un poco de luz al dibujo en algunas áreas como el rostro y el cabello, lo que hizo darle más presencia al personaje y finalizando el dibujo.
The time it took me to do this drawing was about 2 hours, more or less. The process was fast in relation to other drawings I have done because of the size of the illustration and the technique I used.
El tiempo que me tomó hacer este dibujo fue de unas 2 horas, más o menos. El proceso fue rápido en relación a otros dibujos que he hecho por la dimensión de la ilustración y la técnica que empleé.
I really enjoyed doing this illustration for several reasons: Harry is one of my favorite characters and one of the most important (if not the most important) in the story; I was encouraged to use colored pencils as the main material instead of watercolor, which is what I usually use; I didn't expect it to look so good, so I was really satisfied with the result.
Disfruté mucho haciendo esta ilustración por varias razones: Harry es uno de mis personajes favoritos y uno de los más importantes (por no decir que el más importante) en la historia; me animé a usar los lápices de colores como material principal en lugar de la acuarela, que es lo que más suelo usar; no esperé que me quedase tan bien, por lo que quede realmente satisfecha con el resultado.
