Since I can remember, all I have done has been drawing. Drawing leads me to feel such great happiness and passion that with each work I seek that the viewer can experience that same passion, at least for a few seconds.
When I was just six years old, my mother enrolled me in a drawing course to learn the most important techniques, however, I was there for only two weeks. Although they were teaching me perspective, anatomy and what I needed to be a great artist, I didn’t feel any connection with my true passions, I just wanted to draw my favorite superheroes or what I saw on television but being forced to draw only what the teacher indicated was really annoying.
Desde que tengo uso de razón todo lo que he hecho ha sido dibujar. Dibujar me lleva a sentir una felicidad y pasión tan grande que con cada obra busco que el espectador pueda experimentar esa misma pasión, aunque sea por unos segundos.
Cuando tenía tan solo seis años mi madre me inscribió en un curso de dibujo para aprender las técnicas más importantes, sin embargo, solo estuve ahí por dos semanas. Aunque me estaban enseñando perspectiva, anatomía y lo que necesitaba para ser un gran dibujante, en ningún momento sentí alguna conexión con mis verdaderas pasiones, yo solo quería dibujar a mis súper héroes favoritos o lo que veía en la televisión y verme obligado a dibujar únicamente lo que indicaba la profesora era realmente molesto.
I dropped out of the drawing course and continued my studies in a self-taught way with the support of my family and the advice of my uncle Ramón Centeno, sometimes I drew for my friends, I helped them with their homework and so on, but soon everything changed. Since I was a kid I was a big fan of Venezuelan national soccer, especially Caracas FC, one day, at the age of 14, I started looking for drawings about national soccer but I couldn't find anything, nobody was interested in drawing about Venezuelan soccer because it was not so popular. However, at 14 years old I did not think about that, I wanted to express my passion for soccer in a different way so I decided to start drawing it.
At that time I only had my Twitter account with just over 100 followers, I posted my first drawing inspired by the Caracas FC in May 2010 and it started to go viral, the technique was terrible, but it was the first time someone had drawn about the feeling of all the fans of national soccer, the innovation was precisely that it touched the hearts of the people, all this taught me that with art I could reach the deepest part of the human being. I kept posting my drawings on Twitter as my followers grew, in a few months I already had more than 2,000 followers and they called me for my first interview on TV: 
Abandoné el curso de dibujo y seguí mi formación de manera autodidacta con el apoyo de mi familia y los consejos de mi tío Ramón Centeno, a veces dibujaba para mis amigos, los ayudaba con sus tareas del colegio y demás, pero pronto todo cambió. Desde pequeño era un gran fanático del fútbol nacional venezolano, especialmente del Caracas FC, un día, a los 14 años, empecé a buscar dibujos sobre el fútbol nacional pero no encontraba nada, a nadie le interesaba dibujar sobre fútbol venezolano porque no era tan popular, sin embargo, a los 14 años no pensaba en eso, quería expresar mi pasión por el fútbol de una manera diferente así que decidí empezar a dibujarlo.
En ese entonces solo tenía mi cuenta de Twitter con poco más de 100 seguidores, coloqué mi primer dibujo inspirado en la Barra del Caracas FC en mayo del 2010 y empezó a hacerse viral, la técnica era terrible, pero era la primera vez que alguien dibujaba el sentimiento de todos los fanáticos del fútbol nacional, la innovación justamente estaba en que tocaba el corazón de las personas, todo esto me enseñó que con el arte podía llegar a lo más profundo del ser humano. Seguí publicando mis dibujos en Twitter mientras crecían mis seguidores, en unos meses ya tenía más de 2.000 followers y me llamaron para mi primera entrevista en TV:
My first and last illustration dedicated to venezuelan national soccer 2011-2020
After that first interview, shortly before I was 15 years old, I understood that my life would be art, that this could become much bigger than I thought. A few weeks later Lavinotinto.com hired me as the first cartoonist in the history of Venezuelan soccer, but the most incredible thing for me at that age was that they were going to pay me to draw! My friends could not believe it, until then living from art was something incredible for me, but just at that moment of joy in my social networks a group of haters arises who thought that my work was a shame for national soccer and that they were simple scribbles, although their comments could be hurtful, they were one of the most important lessons of my life, they taught me that it was not enough and that I should always improve myself, my response to them should be with art.
I was still in school so I could not wait for a University, my training could not depend on the institutions, we live in the best moment in the history of humanity to access knowledge and we must live up to it, I started looking for tutorials online, to investigate the lives of great artists and thus my artistic training became more intensive.
In 2013 I participated in the Caracas Comic-Con. My goal? Very simple, I just wanted to make enough money to buy a used Playstation 2 from a friend, Comic-Con was a success, I had the money for the Playstation but then something happened. A few days after leaving school I was assaulted with some friends, I did not have the money with me, but our phone was stolen. This fact made me understand that the world around me was not as perfect as I thought, it was a great shock but instead of knocking me down, it motivated me to give my art a purpose, I understood that art gave me the possibility of painting a different world, to create awareness, to inspire changes within the human being, it was no longer just to inspire a feeling but to lead the viewer to reflect on what the human being is and what it can become.
I did not intend to change the world with a drawing, but to show people the world that each one can build with the development of their gifts and capacities, to show them the immense potential within the human being. I quit my job at Lavinotinto.com, I decided not to buy the Playstation 2, I felt that my life was pointing to a different purpose, I invested my money in materials, books and more studies and then the year 2014 began.
Luego de esa primera entrevista, poco antes de cumplir 15 años, entendí que mi vida sería el arte, que esto podía llegar a ser mucho más grande de lo que pensaba y así fue. Unas semanas después Lavinotinto.com me contrata como el primer caricaturista en la historia del fútbol venezolano, pero lo más increíble para mi a esa edad era que ¡me iban a pagar por dibujar! Mis amigos no lo podían creer, hasta ese entonces vivir del arte era algo increíble para mí, pero justo en ese momento de alegría en mis redes sociales surge un grupo de haters que pensaba que mi trabajo era una vergüenza para el fútbol nacional y que eran simples garabatos, a pesar de que sus comentarios podían ser hirientes fueron una de las lecciones más importantes de mi vida, me enseñaron que no era suficiente y que siempre debía superarme, mi respuesta hacia ellos debía ser con arte.
Seguía en el colegio así que no podía esperar a una Universidad, mi formación no podía depender de las instituciones, vivimos en el mejor momento en la historia de la humanidad para acceder al conocimiento y debemos estar a la altura de ello, empecé a buscar tutoriales en internet, a investigar la vida de grandes artistas y así mi formación artística se hizo más intensiva.
En el año 2013 participé en la Caracas Comic-Con ¿Mi objetivo? Muy simple, solo quería ganar suficiente dinero como para comprar un Playstation 2 usado a un amigo, la Comic-Con fue un éxito, tenía el dinero para el Playstation pero entonces algo sucedió. Unos días después saliendo del colegio fui asaltado con unos amigos, no tenía el dinero conmigo, pero sí nos robaron el teléfono. Este hecho me hizo entender que el mundo a mi alrededor no era tan perfecto como creía, fue un gran shock pero en lugar de derribarme, me motivó a darle un propósito a mi arte, comprendí que el arte me daba la posibilidad de pintar un mundo diferente, de crear consciencia, de inspirar a cambios en el interior del ser humano, ya no se trataba solo de inspirar un sentimiento sino de llevar al espectador a reflexionar sobre lo que es el ser humano y lo que puede llegar a ser.
No pretendía cambiar el mundo con un dibujo, sino mostrarles a las personas el mundo que cada uno puede construir con el desarrollo de sus dones y capacidades, mostrarles el inmenso potencial en el interior del ser humano. Renuncié a mi trabajo en Lavinotinto.com, decidí no comprar el Playstation 2, sentí que mi vida apuntaba a un propósito diferente, invertí mi dinero en materiales, libros y más estudios y así empezó el año 2014.
In 2014, thanks to all the studies carried out and a change in my vision of the world, I was able to create the "Art with the Flag of Venezuela" series, a series of more than 70 works inspired by the national flag that went around the world. Raising the symbols of Venezuelan culture, in a few months my social networks went from 2,000 followers to more than 50,000. This series of works inspired thousands of people and companies to invest in art, some companies were investing in my works to reinvent their products and their sales rose up to 30%, it was fascinating to see how we were beginning to change the paradigms of art and prosperity, since my works were not only changing my life but those of other people. The most incredible thing is that we were achieving all this only with Social Networks and digital art, however, everything was just beginning.
In February 2015 I managed to get my first individual exhibition in the spaces of the UNIMET, I remember that one person told me "don't worry, not many people come to these things" however, all the exhibited works were sold, it was a total success which opened the doors to my first international exhibitions, that same year we went to Miami, Houston, Panama and Bogotá; In Bogotá, we received First Place in the 2015 Ibero-American Online Entrepreneurship Awards in the category of “Best Use of Digital Channels” for the series “Art with the Flag of Venezuela” and I had the honor of being the Third Best Entrepreneur of 2015. In January 2015 it was impossible to pay for a plane ticket, I did not have the resources, anyone would have said that I would not achieve it, but it turned out to be the year with the most trips of my life (until that moment), I did not get carried away by obstacles but for what made me unique, in my case many people could have money for the ticket, but I knew that no one else in the world could create my art, they could create better or worse works, but never the same, therefore, I had to give my pay attention to that. Sometimes we spend all day thinking about problems that are not in our hands and we put aside what we do can control.
En el año 2014, gracias a todos los estudios realizados y a un cambio en mi visión del mundo pude crear la serie del “Arte con la Bandera de Venezuela” una serie de más de 70 obras inspiradas en la bandera nacional que dió la vuelta al mundo elevando los símbolos de la cultura venezolana, en pocos meses mis redes sociales pasaron de 2.000 seguidores a más de 50.000. Esta serie de obras inspiró a miles de personas y empresas a invertir en arte, algunas compañías invertían en mis obras para reinventar sus productos y sus ventas se elevaban hasta un 30%, era fascinante ver como estábamos empezando a cambiar los paradigmas del arte y la prosperidad, ya que mis obras no solo estaban cambiando mi vida sino las de otras personas. Lo más increíble es que estábamos logrando todo esto únicamente con las Redes Sociales y arte digital, sin embargo, todo estaba tan solo empezando.
En febrero del 2015 logré conseguir mi primera exposición individual en los espacios de la UNIMET, recuerdo que una persona me dijo “no te angusties, no viene mucha gente a estas cosas” sin embargo, todas las obras expuestas se vendieron, fue un éxito total que abrió las puertas a mis primeras exposiciones internacionales, en ese mismo año fuimos a Miami, Houston, Panamá y Bogotá; en Bogotá recibimos el Primer Lugar en los Premios Iberoamericanos de Emprendimiento Online 2015 en la categoría de “Mejor uso de Canales Digitales” por la serie del “Arte con la Bandera de Venezuela” y tuve el honor de ser el Tercer Mejor Emprendedor del 2015. En enero del 2015 era imposible pagar un boleto de avión, no tenía los recursos, cualquiera habría dicho que no lo lograría, pero resultó ser el año con más viajes de mi vida (hasta ese momento), no me dejé llevar por los obstáculos sino por aquello que me hacía único, en mi caso muchas personas podían tener dinero para el pasaje, pero sabía que nadie más en el mundo podía crear mi arte, podían crear obras mejores o peores, pero nunca iguales, por lo tanto, debía darle mi atención a eso. A veces pasamos todo el día pensando en problemas que no están en nuestras manos y dejamos de lado aquello que sí podemos controlar.
Between 2016 and 2017 my works increased in value by nearly 400%, leading me to exhibit the most valuable work of my career at Artexpo New York 2017, being the youngest artist to exhibit at the largest commercial art fair in the world. The most interesting thing is that this, my most valuable work, would be one inspired by Spider-Man, precisely the same superhero that I wanted to draw when I was six years old when I left the drawing course, today I am still that same child who draws based on what is in his heart, I learned that art is the union between a pure feeling and a masterful technique, we can learn the technique, but the feeling comes from knowing ourselves and expressing what is in our heart.
My great work "Spider-Man having lunch" was acquired in Malaysia, taking me to exhibit on the Asian continent and give lectures at the Limkokwing University, we also participated in the Florida Supercon and in 2018 we exhibited in London as a guest artist of the festival "Passion for Freedom" and then went to Rome and Madrid. I speak in the plural because in 2017 we had formalized the creation of the company Grupo Olivares Arte Visual C.A. where my main partner is my mother Maribel Matos, the objective has always been to give art a business vision and that artists and companies can see it as synonymous with prosperity.
By 2019 my work was already present in more than 20 countries and we decided to take a big leap, we created the Olivares Academy, a totally online drawing school that is dedicated not only to artistic training but also to educate artists on how to generate income from his talent, having an impact with his work and much more, currently we have received more than 3,300 students from 37 countries and we have awarded 122 scholarships to young artists from all over Venezuela, all the negative experiences in drawing courses served to create a different education that understands the passions and motivations of artists.
Entre 2016 y 2017 mis obras elevaron su valor cerca de 400% llevándome a exponer la obra más valiosa de mi carrera en el Artexpo New York 2017, siendo el artista más joven en exponer en la feria de arte comercial más grande del mundo. Lo más interesante es que esa, mi obra más valiosa, sería una inspirada en Spider-Man, justamente, el mismo superhéroe que quería dibujar a los seis años cuando abandoné el curso de dibujo, hoy sigo siendo ese mismo niño que dibuja basado en lo que hay en su corazón, aprendí que el arte es la unión entre un sentimiento puro y una técnica magistral, la técnica la podemos aprender, pero el sentimiento viene de conocernos a nosotros mismos y expresar lo que hay en nuestro corazón.
Mi gran obra “Spider-Man having lunch” fue adquirida en Malasia, llevándome a exponer en el continente asiático y dictar conferencias en la Universidad de Limkokwing, también participamos en la Florida Supercon y en 2018 llegamos a exponer en Londres como artista invitado del festival “Passion for Freedom” para luego ir a Roma y Madrid. Hablo en plural porque ya en 2017 habíamos formalizado la creación de la empresa Grupo Olivares Arte Visual C.A. donde mi principal socia es mi madre Maribel Matos, el objetivo siempre ha sido darle al arte una visión empresarial y que los artistas y empresas puedan verlo como sinónimo de prosperidad.
Para 2019 mi obra ya estaba presente en más de 20 países y decidimos dar un gran salto, creamos la Academia Olivares, una escuela de dibujo totalmente online que se dedica no solo a la formación artística sino a educar a los artistas sobre cómo generar ingresos de su talento, tener impacto con su obra y mucho más, actualmente hemos recibido más de 3.300 estudiantes de 37 países y hemos otorgado 122 becas a jóvenes artistas de toda Venezuela, todas las experiencias negativas en cursos de dibujo sirvieron para crear una educación diferente, una que comprenda las pasiones y motivaciones de los artistas.
In 2020 we inaugurated the first ecological mural in Venezuela in El Hatillo with more than 250,000 bottle caps together with the NGO Okospiri, every day we confirm that art has an enormous capacity to change the planet we live in. I have no doubt that we are fortunate to live the best moment in the history of humanity for art, for the development of talents and to do what we are passionate about, today my art moves away from the physical plane, it seeks to transform each color and each brushstroke in a reflection of the inner greatness of the human being, reminding us of our connection with the cosmos and understanding a little better the great universe that inhabits each one of us, but I am also still that free child who draws his favorite superhero.
Coming to HIVE in 2021 is a wonderful opportunity, not only for me, but for all students to whom we will be able to transmit everything we live in this platform that continues to confirm that we are in the best historical moment for the arts, if ever It was in doubt, no more, I have also been able to get here with the wonderful advice of @rutablockchain, @bluemist and wonderful people who make this new foray possible to take my art to a new level.

En 2020 inauguramos el primer mural ecológico de Venezuela en El Hatillo con más de 250.000 tapas de botellas junto a la ONG Okospiri, cada día comprobamos que el arte tiene una capacidad enorme de cambiar el planeta que vivimos. No tengo duda de que somos afortunados al vivir el mejor momento en la historia de la humanidad para el arte, para el desarrollo de los talentos y para hacer lo que nos apasiona, hoy mi arte se aleja del plano físico, busca transformar cada color y cada pincelada en un reflejo de la grandeza interior del ser humano, recordarnos nuestra conexión con el cosmos y entender un poco mejor el gran universo que habita en cada uno de nosotros, pero también sigo siendo ese niño libre que dibuja a su superhéroe favorito.
Llegar a HIVE en este 2021 es una oportunidad maravillosa, no solo para mí, sino para todos los estudiantes a los que podremos transmitirles todo lo que vivamos en esta plataforma que sigue confirmando que estamos en el mejor momento histórico para las artes, si alguna vez estuvo en duda, ya no más, además he podido llegar acá con la maravillosa asesoría de @rutablockchain, @bluemist y personas maravillosas que hacen posible esta nueva incursión para llevar mi arte a un nuevo nivel.
