I greatly admire Kafka Hibino, that's a fact. This character stands out at first glance, not because he's an incredible, super-strong superhero, but because he's the most ordinary person in the world who, one day, had the best luck or the worst luck in the world. This allows him to become this powerful monster better known as Kaiju No. 8, and that's what I liked most about this series, which breaks the typical mold of those that deal with superheroes. This one is different; you could say it's the counterpart to One Punch Man, since, as I said, Kafka is characterized by not standing out, and if he does stand out, it's as the one who does it worst of all.

Admiro mucho a Kafka Hibino, eso es un hecho. Este personaje resalta a simple vista no por ser un superhéroe increíble y fortachón sino por ser la persona más común del mundo que un día corrió con mucha suerte o con la peor suerte del mundo. Lo que le permite convertirse en este mounstro poderoso mejor conocido como Kaiju Nº 8. Y eso es lo que más me ha gustado de esta serie, que rompe los esquemas típicos de esas qeu tratan de superhéroes. Esta es diferente, se podría decir que es la contraparte de One Punch Men, ya que como dije Kafka se caracteriza por no destacar, y si destaca es como el que lo hace peor de todos.

So I admire this character for his perseverance, enthusiasm, and tenacity in keeping his chin up in the face of adversity. Series with characters like this inspire us to persevere in difficult situations in life, because no matter what, at some point, you just get tired and want to give up. But then you watch this series and say to yourself, “If he can do it because his situation is worse than mine, I can and must keep going too.” That's how these stories, when I watch them, lift my spirits and inspire me to try again and again.

Así que admiro a este personaje por su perseverancia, entusiasmo y tenacidad para mantener la frente en alto ante las adversidades. Series con personajes así inspiran a continuar ante situaciones difíciles de la vida, que por más que sea, llegado a un punto, uno simplemente se cansa y quisiera mandar todo a la chingada. Pero luego ves esta serie y te dices: "si él lo puede hacer porque claramente su situación es peor que la mía, yo también puedo y debo continuar". Es así como estas historias, al verlas, me suben el ánimo y me inspiran a intentarlo una y otra vez.

And although it has a unique and unusual protagonist, there are other aspects of this anime that I liked. One of them is the style of its drawings and animation. I think that Production I.G studio has done a job on par with Ufotable. It's worth admiring, contemplating in detail, and enjoying throughout the series, especially in the fight scenes. For me, those were the best scenes. And those touches in the character design, each one detailed in a simple, straightforward way, suddenly reveal so many details in their expressions, especially in their gazes. Almost all the characters in Kaiku No. 8 express light or darkness at certain important moments just with their gaze, and this was a pleasure to watch throughout all the episodes.

Y aunque tiene un protagonista único y para nada usual, hay otros aspectos de este animé que me agradaron demasiado. Una de ellas es el estilo de sus dibujos y animación. Me parece que el studio Production I.G ha hecho un trabajo a la misma altura de Ufotable. Digno de admirar, contemplar a detalle y disfrutar durante toda la serie, sobre todo en las escenas de peleas. Para mí fueron las mejores escenas. Y esos toques en el diseño de sus personajes, cada uno detallado de manera simple, sencilla y de pronto muestran tantos detalles en sus expresiones, sobre todo con sus miradas. Casi todos los personajes de Kaiku Nº 8 expresan luz u oscuridad en ciertos momentos importantes sólo con su mirada y esto fue de mucho agrado de ver durante todos los episodios.

Kafka and his best friend are no slouches in this regard either. On the other hand, I must add that another aspect I liked most about this magnificent anime is that it shows the rapid evolution of its characters. Its protagonist never hesitates to push himself to the limit, even if it means dying. In addition, other characters remind me a little of others who became iconic in other stories, such as One Punch Man or Samurai X. For example, Kikoru Shinomiya reminds me of Tatsumaki in terms of personality and expressions, while Soshiro Hoshina reminded me a lot (but in a good way) of Seta Sōjirō because of his fighting style, his weapons, and also his haircut, even though they are different. Kafka y su mejor amigo no se quedan atrás en este aspecto. Por otro lado, debo agregar que otro de los aspectos que más me gustaron de este magnífico animé es que muestran la pronta evolución de sus personajes. Su protagonista no duda en ningún momento de llegar al límite, incluso si eso implica morir. Además, hay otros personajes que me recuerdan un poco a otros varios que se hicieron icónicos en otras historias como One Punch Man o Samurai X. Como por ejemplo Kikoru Shinomiya quien me recuerda por su personalidad y expresiones a Tatsumaki, mientras que Soshiro Hoshina me recordó mucho (pero en el buen sentido) a Seta Sōjirō por su estilo de pelea, sus armas y también por su corte de cabello, aunque son diferentes. ¿Ustedes qué opinan?
