It's been more than a month since I left Italy. on November 9th.
About a week ago, while I was talking to my father on Skype, he asked me how I felt after this experience. "I feel different than the person who left"

Hace aproximadamente una semana, mientras hablaba con mi padre por Skype, me preguntó cómo me sentía después de esta experiencia. "Me siento diferente a la persona que se fue.".
You meet people or have experiences that previously you could only imagine or hear or see on TV. After they happen you think that this is the world and it is real.. and that it is changing and very quickly too. In recent days I have thought about some moments that I experienced in the first days of my sabbatical and I am pleased to share them.
Conoces gente o tienes experiencias que antes sólo podías imaginar o escuchar o ver en la televisión. Después de que suceden, piensas que este es el mundo y que es real... y que está cambiando y muy rápidamente también. Estos últimos días he pensado en algunos momentos que viví en los primeros días de mi año sabático y tengo el placer de compartirlos.
First mistake: immigration control at the airport. Having left Madrid airport heading towards Cancun, during the flight I got to know the people around me. Talking to a person at a certain point he asked me if it had happened to what I would have said at immigration control at the airport for my 6 month stay in Mexico. My answer was immediately a 'tourist' reason... but this question made me reflect on the words I had prepared and also gave me insecurity. A hypothetical weak point of my speech is that I had booked a hostel for only four days and that I would have based my stay by doing volunteer projects during my stay but that I hadn't found yet because I thought it was better to look for them directly on site. After landing at the airport the moment of immigration control was challenging. From my subjective point of view it lasted an eternity. I even thought at a certain point that they wouldn't let me in and that they would therefore send me back to Europe. The question that completely changed the moment and that helped me was what job I did. By answering an IT consultant for banks I immediately realized that I had made it. It wasn't important that I already had an exit ticket and that they had rightly calculated whether I had respected the exact 180 days or where I live now or why I left Milan at the end of July. I'm still not sure who I have to thank (probably myself?) but thanks to those who thought of me and helped me.
Primer error: control de inmigración en el aeropuerto. Habiendo salido del aeropuerto de Madrid rumbo a Cancún, durante el vuelo conocí a la gente que me rodeaba. hablando con una persona en cierto momento me preguntó si le había pasado lo que yo hubiera dicho en el control de inmigración en el aeropuerto durante mi estadía de 6 meses en México. Mi respuesta fue inmediatamente un motivo 'turístico'... pero esta pregunta me hizo reflexionar sobre las palabras que tenía preparadas y también me dio inseguridad. Un hipotético punto débil de mi discurso es que había reservado un albergue para sólo cuatro días y que habría basado mi estancia realizando proyectos de voluntariado durante mi estancia pero que todavía no había encontrado porque pensaba que era mejor buscar directamente en el sitio. Luego de aterrizar en el aeropuerto el momento del control migratorio fue desafiante. desde mi punto de vista subjetivo duró una eternidad. Incluso llegué a pensar en un momento que no me dejarían entrar y que por tanto me enviarían de vuelta a Europa. La pregunta que cambió completamente el momento y que me ayudó fue qué trabajo hacía. Al responder a un consultor informático para bancos, inmediatamente me di cuenta de que lo había logrado. No importaba que ya tuviera un billete de salida y que hubieran calculado correctamente si había respetado los 180 días exactos o dónde vivo ahora o por qué salí de Milán a finales de julio. Todavía no estoy segura de a quién tengo que agradecer (probablemente a mí mismo?), pero gracias a quienes pensaron en mí y me ayudaron.

Second error: jet lag management. If you take a 12-hour plane trip and related journeys and technical times... don't think about being fit, alert and very active the next day. Don't think about starting to discover the city and immediately being super busy with a thousand activities. Don't make the same mistakes as me. Rest where you lodged and relax. on some days you get back to 100% and then you will enjoy the following days to the fullest.
Segundo error: gestión del desfase horario. Si haces un viaje en avión de 12 horas y trayectos y tiempos técnicos relacionados… no pienses en estar en forma, alerta y muy activo al día siguiente. No pienses en empezar a descubrir la ciudad e inmediatamente estar súper ocupado con mil actividades. No cometas los mismos errores que yo. Descansa donde te hospedaste y relájate. Algunos días vuelves al 100% y luego disfrutarás al máximo los días siguientes.

Third mistake: anxious to immediately find the perfect volunteering project! 72 hours after arriving in Cancun I was already on my way to the jungle! Ahhhh help!
Tercer error: ansioso por encontrar inmediatamente el proyecto de voluntariado perfecto! 72 horas después de llegar a Cancún ya estaba camino a la selva! Ahhh ayuda!
