Well Hello There Hivers And Travelers
In the mood for some beach trips?
Well me and @Misshugo wanted to do just that! We went down to Dana Bay in the Western Cape although I've been in the Western Cape a lot, more than I can count probably. I have never went to Dana Bay.
Until now! It's truly a magnificently beautiful place and if I have to be honest my heart is longing and aching to go back there! Fear not December is close and me and @Misshugo are planning on going down to that lovely ocean side paradise again!
Okay so I made two @Pinmapple posts about the Cape St.Blaze Trail over the last two weeks. The whole trail stretches along the coast and adds up to around 12-14 kilometers if I remember correctly. In those two posts I shared the start of the journey of the St. Blaze trail. However we did not finish the trail, not yet at-least. I did find it note worthy to mention that the trail ends at Dana Bay somewhere around the beach that we are currently having adventures on!
Needless to say this is not a continuation of that trail. This is a whole new adventure filled day.
However if you missed those posts and want to check them out.
This Adventure Has No Start
How can I put this?
When I say it has no start I don't mean it literal, more in the fact of we just went about doing awesome stuff and savoring the wonderful moments and the beautiful views!
What I'm trying to say is that I have no clue which photos I took first to be able to set a starting point. So I'll start with the naturally beautiful Sandy Beaches!
The whole beach front stretching from Mossel Bay Point is a rock faced wall but as you get closer to Dana Bay it turns into sand stone cliffs. The mesmerizing thing about these sand stone cliffs is that the ocean chips and carves away at them! Although this is somewhat dangerous for the houses up on the cliffs it makes for incredibly beautiful beach front caves!
One of the many caves along the Dana Bay beach front.
I found this more fascinating than @Misshugo, I would say this is because she is use to these caves! She grew up around them and in them as a little toddler but for me as a new timer here.
Different story for me I would say!
This year I will try and get better photos of these caves, as well as get photos of all of them. Perhaps record a few videos of them too. and try and pin them in order of how they lay_(I think that might be hard but I'll try to do this in the future!)_ I didn't really plan on sharing these on Hive back when I took them!
I have to admit that while I'm busy writing this post I am taking more time staring at the photos than actually writing this story! I have somewhat forgotten how beautiful it really was!
We really need to go down to Dana Bay again and have our memories refreshed!
I was thinking of getting a sit down with her dad and get a know of the land, perhaps he can guide us to where we can see some cool stuff and visit historical land marks!
Also we need to plan a fishing adventure! A proper one at that!
This would be my favorite cave of them all!
I even told @Misshugo look I think we found a home because I would damn sure live in here! The only thing she said was.
"Oh really, and what about the tides?"
Stupidly I answered.
"What tides? Look there ain't no tides over here! And if the tides should come we can wash!"
"Laughs Laughs"
Needless to say she had no further comments for me π
Well in all honesty she had a point with the tide coming in, but besides that it was damp, wet and cold inside the cave and this was in broad daylight so at night it should be real chilly!
Standing inside the caves, well I wasn't sure how I felt. Am I enjoying this or am I somewhat scared? Honestly I did enjoy it but the thought of these caves collapsing was in the back of my head! However it's highly unlikely that they would collapse within the next 10 or 20 years.
I thought to myself, "Oh what do I know, I ain't no geologist!"
What Would An Adventure Be Like Without A Photo Shoot
The Betty trying to touch the cave tops, well at-least she was able to reach up there even though she had to use the length of her feet as well! But made it she did!
If I have to be honest! It took me some convincing to get her to actually pose for the photos!
Even though I am camera shy myself I can never understand why she doesn't want to take photos!
Well I should probably know!
But in times like these we need to picture those memories!
Notice the shyness?
Shy or not I do appreciate every ounce of effort from you @Misshugo and I hope to have many more of these adventure filled journeys with you. π
I would most certainly not have been the same without you.
And here I am contemplating if the walls to our new house would be sufficient or perhaps needed an upgrade!
Laughs Laughs
Nah the Betty wanted a cool photo of me and decided this would do! On a different note I actually half forgot about this photo! I know I ain't no model, but this is surely a modelly photo ππ
Sunny days and beachy vibes ahead for us
A Rocky Experience
Okay so I would sort of lie if I say that it was all sunny days it's clear that it wasn't all sunny. Well the clouds came and went as they pleased, that's why people say you experience four seasons in one day! That is somewhat true.
Enough of the weather!
We eventually grew bored of the caves and went to "play" on the rocks that led into the ocean.
All the pools formed on the rock bed actually had a lot of sea life in them. Like little crabs hunting and small sea snails crawling around, little fish going about! (Unfortunately I didn't get photos of this, maybe this year!)
But why I took these photos was because I absolutely enjoyed the waves crashing up against the rocks!
Welp I was only able to grab a few good shots of the waves crashing! However @Misshugo took my phone and went about making a video.
She said
"There you go, now you can choose what you want!"
Meaning I can pause the video and screenshot at the perfect timingπ more than often I wonder what I would do without her. π
By the way I added the video she recorded and you can hear her screaming as the wave crashed over the rocks, she also tried running away but if I can remember correctly it was to no avail.
So I'll be wrapping this post up on the rock bed! However this adventure filled journey is not complete YET!
Stay tuned for the second part where I will show you why they call this piece of land Mossel Bay Point.
Okay I know we are in Dana Bay but it's right next to Mossel Bay and the reason where it got it's name might or might not shock you!
See you all on the next adventure!
To everyone who made it this far into my post Thank you for the read and the support.
