The word "Mercurial" is a fitting description for visionaries such as Steve Jobs and home designer Jeff Lewis. Based in California, he stars in the reality series 'Flipping Out' where we follow Jeff and crew as they visit clients and renovate homes.
I found this series by chance when searching for new episodes of The World's Most Extraordinary Homes which I binge-watched before the pandemic. The cast of characters who work for Jeff represent a motley crew of mostly loyal and hard-working individuals lucky enough to work for a man with one of the most inventive minds in the business.
Starting with season 1, I'm now on season 5 and loving every minute of this design-o-rama. Mr. Lewis reminds me so much of Jobs with his sharp temper and unfiltered nature, combined with a brilliant mind which keeps his cadres very loyal. business partner Randy is the "good cop" and sometimes foil to bad boy Jeff.
If you're looking for drama, there's plenty of it to be found here from shady contractors to demanding clients and unreliable employees. Jeff is a hard taskmaster who's difficult to please, but can bring out the best in anyone wired to deal with him.
Jenni Pulos (who looks like Elaine from Seinfeld), is his most trusted confidante and resilient employee. Zolia Chavez is his long-time housekeeper and pet sitter and the most beloved member of his clan. Not afraid to stand up to him, she's more than an employee and is considered family by everyone in the office.
With a revolving cast of characters and stunning renovations, 'Flipping Out' makes for compelling content. Once you start to watch, you won't want to stop. I love this series which is currently available on Amazon Prime and can't wait for the next episode. What shows are you binge-watching?
