As we did in February when there was a PUD numbers glitch, we've @coquicoin, who is a member of the @lovesniper team has helped us to identify this month's delegation recipients.
But first: why you we need to power up
Although the monthly Power Up Day initiative is a fun event, there are very serious reasons behind powering up. It goes way beyond the monetising of one's content and HODL-ing. It literally is all about power.
I did my own dunce's explainer in 2021 and I'll summarise the important takeways:
As an account builds up Hive, one of the two crypto tokens generated by this blockchain, so does the Hivean's power or ability to perform actions on the blockchain.
Each action (comment, vote (like), post, or wallet transaction (movement of crypto currency) uses up resource credits which are replenished over a 24 hour period.
At the same time, we build both reputation and Hive and as we do, we also move "up" the Hive ladder.
We earn tokens (Hive and HBD and HP) from votes on posts and comments (authoring) and from voting and re-blogging (re-sharing on the blockchain) (curating).
A word about the nomenclature
The terms used to describe user levels - or status - are marine analogies and very similar to the terms used in the gambling world. The smallest accounts are plankton and, sadly (well, for some), much like happens in the ocean, become the fodder of the whales and orcas that inhabit the higher echelons of the Hive chain.
Why is she banging on about powering up?
I - and the other three of the Fab Four - are glad you asked: We've noticed that some of Hive's recent arrivals are not powering up. We understand that as Hive (and crypto) seems to be entering a bull run, it's very tempting to keep Hive and HBD liquid and to withdraw it. While (and this is not financial advice...) that may help you in RL, it won't help you on the blockchain because it will take you longer to build up a power pack.
This is why we're banging on about powering up. Why not pop your stash into your savings wallet and capitalise on the interest and then, power up on 1 April? Oh, you'll need to withdraw from your savings on around 26 or 27 March to be sure you have liquid hive to power up.
Still with Plan B and a Fabulous Four
As I noted, we didn't have the usual PUD this month, but that's not stopping the now Fab Four (@lizelle or @coquicoin, who joined me, a year later to make The Power of Three and @ifarmgirl, from going ahead with delegations.
For March, we have selected two accounts. One, we chose because - as we always say - we all have an unashamed bias towards Silver Bloggers - which is also what we are! The other was a candidate for a delegation in October 2023, but who missed out because the random selector didn't pick that account.
Before I get to the announcement, what these redfish have already got (from me, anyway), the others will do so in their own time and comment below to confirm, is:
a total delegation of 400 HP for 21 days
Each of us - @lizelle, @coquicoin (herself a recipient of one of my delegations), @ifarmgirl and I (@fionasfavourites) - have (or will) delegate(d) 100HP to the accounts listed below - for three weeks (21 days).
Of course, that's not all
Remember that in addition to the delegations, these accounts are added to my fanbase and receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to pop over, but RL sometimes gets in the way). This is also why I ask @ginabot or my bot F.R.I.D.A.Y to notify me each time they post. If I have an opportunity, I pop over, have a gander and occasionally weigh in on whatever the post may be about. If you haven't had a vote, I then give a manual vote.
