I could swear that I had had more than ten bottles of water this morning. I get it, staying hydrated is key but the endless visit to the bathroom isn’t the door.

But then, I can only blame all of this on Doctor Matilda and even though she’s a superior, she is the main cause of all of my ordeals here.
Having to take the stairs instead of the elevator several times every day, all because she needs her things done ‘as fast as an eagle’ and she needs me as fit as an hourglass is insane. Utterly insane.
I was always at her beck and call but does that as well insinuate that I needed to work as the messenger as well?
I am a goddamn doctor too, although a junior doctor but still a doctor!!
I held the railings, stopping on the eleventh staircase to catch my breath. I can swear that I have been descending these stairs since 9 am and I could guess it’s almost 10 am now!
“What have I done wrong to deserve this? Why is my life always tangled with someone else’s? Damn!” I said to myself as I stood straight again, adjusted my overall, and wiped the forming sweat on my forehead with the back of my palm.
“The parking lot is just a few more steps away!” I said to myself. That was the only convincing word I could muster right now.
Finally, the view was in sight and I just need to get to her goddamn car, get her goddamn phone and get the fuck out of here to start my duty today.
As I got to the parking lot, I rested my hands on my knees, breathing heavily.
“I should have taken more than one bottle of water with me,” I said amid a hard breath.
Just as I took the tenth step, the whole parking lot went pitch black and my heartbeat juggled like a marathon race.
I looked around with my head raised as though that could help with the lights. I waved my hands toward the fluorescents but they had no effect.
“Fuck!” I cussed as I searched my side pockets for my phone but unfortunately, it was nowhere in touch.
“Damn! I must have left it while I was in a hurry. Damn you, Matilda!” I half-yelled and I tried to walk toward her car with my instinct.
Just as I took two baby steps, the light went back on. “Oh, today isn’t all that bad!” I said to myself with a broad smile.
I searched inside the car and there was nothing as a lookalike as a phone.
Just when I was still ruminating about whether I needed to just quit being a junior doctor or just run away from here, I saw five men in suits walking toward my direction but more in a “what direction are we heading” manner.
“She’s the one in a black car?” one of the men said and I raised my eyebrow. I guess he was on a phone call.
“Oh, the SUV?”
“Oh, yeah. There are a lot of black cars here and this isn’t just the SUV,” I convinced myself.
“Are you sure she is a competent doctor?” he asked again and I shook my head before I peeked over at the back seat and there, I saw the phone.
“She’s the best you have. Oh, good! You know what happens if she isn’t! Good, good!” he communicated.
I leaned out from the driver’s seat, shutting the door so I could check the passenger seat when I almost bumped into one of the men.
I slowly raised my head and it felt like I was looking up to the heavens…’cause this man is long! I mean, so long.
I beamed a broad, stretched smile that didn't reach my face before taking two steps backward and he took three toward me so that his chest was almost touching mine.
“Hey, big guy. You have to back up!” I said as I tried to push his chest but he wouldn’t budge.
“Doctor, we would need you to come with us,” the shortest of the men said and with his stance, I could guess he was the boss.
“Uhmm…excuse me?” I asked with a raised eyebrow and a feigned smile that immediately faded when I saw how serious their faces were.
“Like, are you serious? You need me to come with you? What does that even mean?” I asked and still, I got no response.
I exchanged my stare with them and soon, the short guy signaled to the big guy and he nodded in return. Just before I could decipher what was going on, the huge guy draped me on his shoulder, clearing my legs off the ground.
“What the hell are you doing? Let me down this instant!” I yelled, hitting his back and tossing my legs in the air behind me.
“You tell him to let me down now or I will call the police!” I yelled with all of my might, pointing at their so-called boss but they all moved like they were some sort of programmed bots.
A few minutes later, we came to a halt and before I could take in the scene of the east side of the parking lot, he dropped me in a car.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing? Who the fuck are you guys? I fucking demand an ans…” I was choked on my words when a handkerchief was used to block my nostrils and I could immediately sense that it was Ketamine.
I could slowly feel all of my limbs and my whole body submit to their cause. I think I was being kidnapped.
“Dr Matilda, we will arrive at our destination in a few minutes,” I could hear a voice say but I cannot quite make out whose voice it was anymore.
My eyes were closing up and my body was fading off to the unconscious realm but I wanted to tell the voice so badly that they got the wrong person. I wasn’t Dr Matilda.
“I am Dr Oaklyn. Dr Oaklyn Williams!”
But my eyelids were betraying me as well as my tongue. So, I decided not to fight it.
If only I didn't come to work today. If only I didn’t take the stairs!!!
