I sat across the table, a few distance away from where Caroline was sitting. I stared at the movement of her lips and the gesture from her hands. The way her hands moved to the rhythm of her words. But I heard none.

I stared at how focused she seemed to be on the discussion at hand, one that I had lost track of. I watched how neatly tailored her jacket and suit skirt were and the way they fit her body, accentuating her curves. I almost envisioned her body beneath the clothing.
But there was something about this whole thought. It was sudden and unusual. This was not the first time I had seen her at the meeting or anywhere but then, it was the first time I noticed her this much.
She is a gorgeous young lady.
“Farrell!” Jose called me and I flinched a bit, blinking away from Caroline, and looked over at Jose who was sitting right beside her.
“I think getting more recruiters would be absolutely insane. Given that we haven't made adequate provisions to the…” She cut me short before I could even complete the statement.
“But I make the absolute provisions for recruiters. Shouldering the responsibility without the help of the board. Do you imply that I have not done enough?” Caroline asked. Her tone sounded intense and not willing to realize that I had not even been listening to a thing that had been said.
I cleared my throat and adjusted well in my seat. All their eyes were on me including Carol who was glaring at me by now.
“Do you intend to recruit 250 men as against the usual number of men originally recruited? I believe that would be out of control,” I managed to say, and I got a few nods.
Caroline glared intensely at me, and I stared back. There was something about her eyes, something that said a lot beyond the words that spewed out of her mouth. I awaited her next words with the utmost desire that encapsulates my whole.
“Let's all assume there are over a thousand men. Do you say as of this moment that you do not have enough resources to shoulder the responsibilities of these men? Or you are by chance projecting your inability on me?”
Her words sounded sharper than the slit of her skirt. The well-defined words pierced my skin, and I formed my fist into a tight ball.
I stretched my lips into a thin smile and opened my mouth to speak but decided against it.
“Mr Farrell?” she called, waiting for my response with an arched eyebrow.
“You’re right, Miss Caroline. Please, go ahead,” I replied with a crooked smile, and she nodded before she continued.
This all started as a result of my misspoken words because I wasn't listening and now the whole thing was going haywire.
As I got in my car, I fastened my seatbelt and rested my head against the headrest. I took in a deep breath with my eyes shut before slowly opening them.
Immediately I opened my eyes, I sighted Caroline, walking elegantly in her heels and placing one foot in front of the other magnificently. I couldn't help but admire her beautiful physique as she walked.
Before I could stop myself, I hurried up toward her and I would say I definitely did not know what I was doing. She just looked too good.
“Caroline,” I called as she opened the car door to the driver’s seat. She looked back at me and a smile that looked like a default mode played on her face.
“Mr Farrell,” she said back, and I smiled with a nod.
“I uhmm…I’m sorry about earlier. To be honest, I wasn’t listening, but I shouldn’t have just jumped in like I did,” I said.
“It’s all fine,” she replied with a smile.
Staring closely at her now made me realize that we have been working together at the same company, but I haven’t ever been this close to her. Her facial features were just the right qualities that suit her face. She has these hazel eyes that are capable of capturing even the strongest man’s heart.
“To be certain that we’re both good, can we step out for a drink later in the day?” I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but it was definitely not her next words.
“Do you want me as your girlfriend?”
“Uhnn…I just…uhmm…I really just,” I fumbled with words. She seemed like the confident type but this time, she caught me off guard.
She moved closer to me, closing up the little gap that was between us before she spoke.
“Look, Farrell. I have noticed your body language around me. Even the look in your eyes gives it away. I know you want me, your body, heart and soul,”
I was shocked! I had no idea I was that obvious or that I had even had such thoughts for a long time. The parking lot seemed empty, but it still felt like people were present.
“That’s true. All of what you’d just said is true and I cannot hide it anymore…”
She kissed me.
Before I could complete my sentence, I felt her soft, tender lips crash against mine.
