The annual traditional #silvergoldstackers Christmas Wish list challenge is in over! God willing, I can be sure that this will happen again next December with plenty of time to make a new list. Safe to say let’s change gears to our #secretsanta results!

“Black birds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven
The reverse has the iconic Christmas tree and obverse with a neat security feature of a snowflake superimposed 180 degrees over the Asahi logo. I plan to give these to my nephews tonight.
Now that I got the Christmas rounds out of the way, let’s get straight to the meat of the matter. This was an item on my Wish list I didn’t get to post but timing has it appropriately placing first among the goodies in my stocking. He said, “You had a real lousy year so here’s something I know you had your eye on.” ~ Your Cabin boy, first class and mentor.

I was having a slow time of warming up into Christmas season, so he let me open it a few days ago and since then I've been off and on humming few bars of, “I saw three ships on Christmas Day Carol.” When I saw the box I could easily guessed what he got me.

I could imagine Admiral Horatio Nelson aboard the HMS Victory conferring with all the senior officers of his squadron as they sailed east ward to Trafalgar that brisk day on October 1805.
Several charts laid upon the conference table, all eyes focused on the chart, all ears attentive to the celebrated Admiral’s every word. The Admiral places shiny ship figures on the chart outlining the recognizable coast of Spain and Portugal.

With the latest sightings of the French and Spanish squadrons the mood among the English officers was worrisome. According to observations they were outnumbered 33 ships to their 27 ships, 2600 guns to their 2148 guns, and 30,000 men to their 18,000. The flagship Bucentaure is a formidable Spanish ship under Admiral Villeneuve, alongside the Trinidad Santissimo which had four decks with 104 guns alone.
Nelson pondered on the report for a minute then placed the little silver model ships in two lines appears on intending to bisect the French fleet’s line into three parts.

“Admiral Collingwood, With the Royal Sovereign I want you to form your line to right and I will have the Victory form on the left. Watch for my signals then attack around this point. His staff points to the rear third of the French line then shifted north.. The Victory shall attack at this point after the first third of the French line.
It was a dangerous maneuver, the lead ships will be decimated coming to the enemy’s full broadside from more than one enemy vessel and casualties will be catastrophic but the plan was daring.
A lieutenant complimented the Admiral of his use of visual aid and asked admiringly of the admiral, “Where did you get these fascinating silver model ships?”
Nelson smiles with an assurance of a proud father, “Why my dear fellow I found a rather quaint shop called Gold Spartan figures and statues silversmith.”

Aboard the Bucentaure’s Stern castle Admiral Villeneuve closed his spyglass and hands it to the capitan, “Foolish Englishmen.”
The Capitan turns his attention to his Admiral, “Shall we turn west to engage in line battle?”
“No my Capitan, we have more ships, guns, and men. The wind is our favor. What could possibly go wrong!”
El Fin.
