Sometimes a perfect weekend does not mean taking a rest the whole day because it’s non-working hours. There are moments when a good bonding time with your loved ones could energize us.
Since most employees only have Sunday as their rest day, a few spend 24 hours relaxing on their beds or just using their phones. But my brother is different. He always wanted to spend his rest day with us doing outdoor activities, like mountain climbing or hiking.
I am the kind of person who is into adventures and bonding time. I love when the people special in my life plan for picnics or nature tripping. And it’s a blessing that even my family shares the same vibes as mine, especially my older brother.
It was a Sunday morning when we talked about what to do in the next hours since we did not want to stay home and do nothing. If you watched or read my last content before this, you might know that we live near a mountain and river. They are just a walking distance of our house. My older brother told us to eat lunch there, so we bought the food we wanted.
After going to the market, we decided to go to the spot already, which is under the mountain. The trees are big, and there is a good place to have a picnic under one of them. But the adventure started when we crossed the river to finally get into the part where we wanted to spend a few hours of the picnic.
When we had already found the perfect spot, we had some quick cleaning and prepared the things for the grilling session. We bought Pork Chop and marinated them before going here. It was the best choice for us since we wanted to cook there. We were about to have grilled chicken instead of this one, but my nephew wanted the grilled pork.
My brother and my partner volunteered to do the cooking. They are the ones who work on cooking the food that will fill up our hungry tummies. And since we came there with my nephew, he was also helping them in his ways. They kept focused on what they were doing while my sister-in-law and I started cleaning the area where we would eat.
After a few minutes of waiting, I decided to check our viand. The meat was already cooked then, and we could smell the delicious aroma. We also bought some eggplants and hotdogs as our side dishes, so they had to cook them too.
While waiting for the food to be good to serve, my nephew spotted an ice cream vendor. He requested money because he wanted to buy one for himself. We all ate ice cream before eating lunch, maybe because we were already hungry.
We did not bring utensils for eating since we planned to have a Boodle Fight. I asked my partner to look for banana leaves around, so we could already organize the food. He took the knife and returned with a piece of banana leaf that would serve as our plates.
I cleaned it in the water, and when it was ready to go, my sister-in-law and I started putting the rice and the grilled pork, hotdogs, and eggplants. We organized it well for a good plating.
And after a few minutes of waiting, we already started eating. We shared laughter and conversations. We talked about random things and spent the next hours enjoying the moment, the view, and the perfect weather.
