Today marks yet another year of Solstice and yet another year of my Life.
Summer Solstice is Astronomically the first Day of Summer! Soo..... 🌞Happy Summer! 🌞
What is a Solstice you may ask? It is essentially the biggest day of the Year!
Essentially when the Sun reaches its peak extremes during June 21 and December 21 respectively.
There is an astrological significance to that which we will go over in a bit.
There is an offset in some years where the Solstice will be off by a day, in the years 2024 and 2025 for example the Solstice will be in 20 of June.
I happen to be born in that exact day at the time and I did not know about the cosmical occasion until recently.
✨Yeap, today is my Birthday, Yay! ✨
The Solstice Happens when the Earth is in Stasis or at least this is what was believed and hence the name Sol (Sun) and stitium (Stasis) both of which are Latin.
The opposite of Solstice is the Equinox which are the two balanced cycle points, they are typically half between the two solstices in both extremes of the cycle. During the Solstice the earth's axis makes it so the sun appears to go backwards on the opposite direction.
In any event, this day is important for being the day in which a lot of cosmic energy (for those who believe in such) is channeled down to earth for the longest time, the earth is charged by the sun for most of the day, this of course may not seem as anything important to the current "scientific" society, however, in older times it used to be an important occasion worth a big celebration.
Indeed the Sun's rays do hit earth the more directly than any other day of the year at the Summer Solstice.
Celtic folk used to celebrate during that day or period with feast, dancing and singing in the ancient celebrations of the four quarters of the year. There are also other celebrations like midsummer and so on, depending on the culture the celebration of that day may vary, I actually was surprised that my folk are totally unaware of that day and I always only thought of it just as my Birthday 😆
Symbolically it is a very special day and a day I did not know about until a friend mentioned it.
I encourage you to do something special during that day, if you have time off you may want to go to the beach and play or eat, perhaps do a picnic if its a good day in your area, up to you!
