With how crazy the last year has been I still think about the mountains in Wyoming from a backpacking trip I took as a kid. Times were simpler back then. I did not know much of the world and my only friends were in person. I was not trying running a blog, creating a game, or be surrounded in a world hell-bent on burning itself down to the ground. I got to enjoy the fresh air, cold water, and a mountain backdrop as I adventured forward on that trip.

I’ve been so busy in the first half of this year it’s almost a blur. As many times before being a content creator means to me being up at 3 AM most nights working on something. I think that is just the digital nomad lifestyle. Burnout and hitting the wall are things you try to ignore. You must adapt trying to stay ahead of some imaginary curve and hope to not be left behind in the great crunch that follows.

When I first started creating written content back in 2017 it was really whatever random topic I could think of. I commented more than I created content. I felt in a way my content would always be safe and despite how changing the times are that it would be the only platform I would create content on.

In 2018 I started to accept my voice I was somewhat hiding from. I didn’t want to create content around gaming despite being a huge gamer myself. While it was there in spurts I wanted to find something else to define my digital space on that blog. That was no longer the case as I let it move in and had a lot of fun.

Gaming also always leads me to take up community and a bigger leadership role than I tend to personally enjoy. I’m used to being a digital nomad and it was like I now had a house to stay in and plants to water so they would grow for a while.

You can start to see that changing in tides. As I went from someone who commented a lot with around 5,401 posts in total by my first anniversary compared to today of 10,992 posts. The bulk of those posts being comments in my early years. I was planting a lot of seeds back then I just didn’t know it.

By the time my second anniversary rolled around in 2019 I was quite heavy into making gaming content. Along with sneaking some nature in with a garden post here or there. I do miss that giant tomato plant I had that year!

Then 2020 come knocking and it felt like I was being attacked on every single front. It was not all at once. Most of my friends were long gone in the digital space sometimes they would reappear but never for any long amount of time with the expectation of a couple. The world was on lockdown from a pandemic. A massive financial challenge ahead as everything was falling apart and still is.

On top of all that I had to say goodbye to my digital home since 2017. The place was on fire, the tires where flat, and there was mass looting. It reflected the ugly outside world into what was an ever-changing yet constantly known factor in my life. It was no more to me and dead.

Thankfully the new place while it did feel like starting a new adventure it was like a continuation of a new chapter in a book by a different name. Freedom was once again felt after putting up a fight. Thankfully it came with a fountain of rejuvenation and that burnout thing digital nomad’s fear could be pushed to the background.

I also took a lot of the negatives of early 2020 and used that as fuel to start making my own game. So many people talk about how they got nothing done, gained a bunch of weight, and are in an endless state of stress with crazed panic. I wanted to start building something. Outside of stress, I can’t relate to most people these days. I lost a little weight and got a lot of shit done.

An adventure that is still without a written ending is being shared within a week or two of events happening. With my latest update on my game development series only a few hours old of writing this post. I share my experience and the process that goes into making a game.

I have no idea how it will end either which is the fun part of life. I could fail hard. I could finish it and nothing happens. It could end up in this weird middle ground for a decade where I struggle to find a conclusion for it and refuse to give up.

I still create normal gaming content as well as far as reviews, stories, and sharing my thoughts go. While my gaming index is not being as updated these days as it has been in the past. It’s still a huge part of my blog. I have so much gaming content I need to get around to writing.

Just spending a single day not working towards one of my goals on my game’s roadmap drives me crazy. So a lot of things are taking the back seat. If I don’t get around to them I’m not caring too much about it as can be seen where I hardly post at all some weeks.

It’s times like these that can be rather frustrating to deal with and know me. I have my eyes set on something and I tend to forget about the outside world as it burns. I want to create my own future that is not on fire. That is not done by demanding others do the work for you and be the ones who change. It’s done by putting in the time yourself and creating the thing you desire. Otherwise, you are just playing by other people's rules and whatever you get is what you get on their terms. Which is often not fresh air, cold water, and a mountain backdrop.
