I was exploring the hive feed page when I got to know about the Quarantine Challenge by @anomadsoul
This challenge was itself quite exciting but what inspired me even more was reading a post by @sidwrites : My Quarantine Challenges: A Simple Decision To Hive For The Next 30 Days
He selected an incredible goal of doing hive for the next 30 days, to write on it daily.
In his post, he mentioned about where one's focus should be: On what one truly wants!
So I asked myself what is it that I truly want to do this month, till the end of quarantine?
I have 22 days, and I can do 4 things daily.
I consider myself quite an avid reader. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to continue my reading habit for quite some time now.
Being stuck at my home in quarantine has given me an opportunity to bring back the good old habit of reading again.
My plan is to complete a book that I was reading, but left it in the middle. The book was "The Compound Effect".
I have planned to devote one hour of reading daily in the morning for this entire month.
Then for the next one hour, I will read a couple of articles, probably on medium or copyblogger.
This is how I plan to spend my mornings in quarantine, productive and enjoyable.
I have planned to read till 30th April, but if I can convert this into a habit, I will be more than happy to continue.
Hive brings back the old memories of steemit. I used to write one blog post with a bunch of my friends daily.
Now, I have got the opportunity to write daily again.
I have decided to spend my afternoon and evenings on writing because these are the times when I am either most bored or most productive (bored in afternoon and productive in the evenings and at night).
Although, committing is one thing and doing is another.
And looking back on my experience, I know how difficult it is to write daily.
So I need to come up with a couple of rules to do it.
- Create a list of ideas that I want to write about.
- Dedicate a proper amount of time to write. (2 p.m to 4 p.m in the afternoon and 9 p.m to 11 p.m at night).
- Committing with one person to do it( @sidwrites ). So that I am accountable to do it and he reminds me in case I don't come up with a post.
I am most excited about this commitment.
Learning new things is what keeps me afloat in my messed up life.
I have a number of skills written on my list that I want to pursue. For example learning a new language (Mandarian, Spanish), learn to code, public speaking etc.
Given the limited amount of time, it is not possible to do all these things in one month.
So I decided to learn HTML, CSS, SEO and content marketing.
In fact I opted for a one month membership of skillshare and jumped straight away to learn these skills.
My plan is to learn all these things one by one in the evening (from 6 p.m to 8 p.m) sitting on my terrace, drinking coffee.
Also, as I get to learn the basic skills from a number of tutors, I can decide which tutor is best for me and whose paid course I should opt for, in case I want to go for advance level.
By the end of this month, i.e 30th April, I am aiming to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, SEO and content marketing.
The world economy is crumbling, whole world is suffering from corona pandemic, people are dying, I have been going through emotional ups and downs from the last 3 months, my finances are wreck.
In these desperate times, it is essential to find happiness.
If I am able to keep myself happy, I know that I will spread some happiness to people around me, especially my family and friends, to let them know that the world is not ending.
I have to come up with something so that I don't turn back to my emotional turmoil after being happy for one day.
So, I have decided to make a gratitude journal at the end of all my posts as I am going to write one post each day for the rest of the month.
In this way, I can be happy myself and I can make an effort to spread some happiness to other people as well who read my posts.
Gratitude Journal: Happy To Find Awesome People Online.
Happiness comes in many forms. Sometimes it is in the form of connecting with random people and making them lifelong friends such as @sidwrites @travel-cuisine @rahul.stan
Be thankful and happy when you find good people around you, who care about you.
What are you thankful for? What's Your Quarantine Challenge?
