On Mother's Day of All Days!

After 3 weeks of labour I finally have active sourdough starter! Yesterday I achieved the longed for 'doubling' after feeding. I literally jumped for joy. It passed the 'float test' as well. That's where you put a teaspoon of the starter in a cup of water and if it's truly ready to bake with, it will float.
I have named her Sharon. (Not to be confused with Karen 😂)
Well, it turns out I forgot how to make sourdough bread. My first loaf was great tasting but didn't have the airy inside, it was really dense. Now I'm on a new mission to remember how to make this shit 😂
It's so much fun though! Like I tell my children when they get frustrated with school, I'm constantly learning too. Every day. It never ends. You just gotta keep trying until you get it right.
Kiedis turned 10!

Candles in meringue was a tad tricky 😁

Squirrels!
I went for a walk on Friday night and had my own close encounter. I stopped to listen to a little creek, and looked over and a squirrel was just sitting there not caring at all that I was near him. He even let me snap a couple pics without running away 😍

More of the Walk

I believe this is where the 2 ticks I found on my pants when I got home came from. Even though the path is pretty clear, there is some longish grass where I stood to take those last pictures.
Pro Tip: Take photos of your shadow in the late day or early morning light.
