So, I am not sure how I missed it, but up until now I have not been posting with the #musicmonday tag. That seems like a crying shame, so I am going to change that moving forward. I will still be using the #weeklyspins tag, but I will also use #musicmonday. Hopefully this will give me some more exposure so others start throwing the #weeklyspins tag on their post and we can really grow the that content. Since I write the posts on Friday and I am not that active on Hive over the weekend, it can still technically be Monday right?
Woo, that was a lot of tags right there.
Anyway, after writing this post last week about some of the rap music I was listening to, I am going to slow things down by a factor of about 1000 and share with you some of the light Jazz stuff I have been listening to in my office.
The actual name of the playlist is Coffee Table Jazz and you will probably not be shocked to hear that my worker chooses to throw in his airpods rather than listen to my music. I on the other hand really enjoy it. It helps keep me focused, centered, and on task while also making the day go by a bit quicker.
So here we go!
To be fair, I am not going to have a lot of commentary on these. While I really love Jazz music, I honestly don't know a ton about it, so I can't really speak to many of these besides the fact that I really like them.
If I were a coffee drinker, I could totally see myself sitting in a chair drinking a cup of coffee to these. I am a whiskey drinker and I could also see myself sitting in chair with a glass in my hand listening to these songs...
The funny thing is, I never really pay attention when I am listening to the music who is playing it or what the names of the songs are. I just know it sounds good and it is a soft presence in the background of my office.
Writing this post is actually forcing me to look up some of these artists on YouTube and take note of their names. Thus, it only goes to follow that I would be adding some of these that I really enjoy to my list of vinyl albums that I need to buy. I am pretty sure the local record store has a fairly substantial Jazz section and next time I visit I will for sure be taking a deep dive into it.
Get ready, that last one is a beast. Fifty five minutes of awesome light Jazz. I think it is actually a whole set from one of their shows. The song I really dig from it is called "When you are near". It is some great stuff.
I have noticed that I have been picking a lot of stuff by Jazz trios for this list. I am guessing trio's must be really common in the world of jazz. Drums, piano, and then either a brass or woodwind. That really makes a lot of sense.
I really love Jazz because there are just so many different styles. There is the stuff I am listening to today which I would probably consider "light". Then you have smooth Jazz which sounds like light Jazz, but it is a whole different animal (look up Euge Groove if you don't believe me). There is the experimental stuff that often sounds like birds squawking, and the organ stuff, heavy on the Hammond B3 please. Let's not forget Big Band music and countless other forms of Jazz. It is a veritable playground of auditory delights!
So there you have it. That is what I have been listening to this week. If you have been listening to something really awesome, let me know about it in the comments. Better yet, write you own post and use the #weeklyspins tag!
