It's taken me a bit of time to figure this out but I have discovered the pace that I can run for longer periods of time without much difficulty. There are a number of things that can affect this in various ways the main one being what time of day it is and how much that is going to affect my body heat but for the most part this pace is something that I can maintain for a longer period of time and I suppose the next step will be to see if I can do something quite a lot further than a 5k.
I am still plagued a little bit with no understanding why it is that my heart rate ends up being so high with something so light but I think it is time to face facts about how even though I have in fact been dedicated to fitness over the past decade, very little of it was actually cardio-centric and therefore this is still a lot of work as far as my ticker is concerned.
If we overlay this with my pace we discover that a lot of the times where we get near the top it is also from when I was moving the fastest and this makes total sense of course.
Now for other people, being at a 170 heart rate might seem like a danger zone and based on my age, my max heart rate should only ever be around 170. That is the main top even though I am not exactly 50 years old I just do it for simplicity's sake since I am close enough. They say your max heart rate is 220 minus your age.
To me, I regularly come close to 170 and even surpass it on a regular basis and even though I know there is no one size fits all show in this situation, I err on the side of caution for these things because since they aren't selling anything, they wouldn't just throw that information out there for no reason at all.
If the technology that I am using is to be trusted at all, this is kind of sweet spot for me and if I can in fact maintain this speed for longer periods of time, perhaps I should be chasing that or even perhaps even trying to aim for lower if possible. The thing is, at this pace of around 7 mins 30 per km, I already feel like I am barely running and slowing it down more would feel like a powerwalk.
I guess getting your cardio truly trained up takes a long time and that is acceptable seeing as how it took me years to get any truly noticeable lasting changes from weights.
