After carefully reading @mrhaldar's post: When you push yourself too much - Mental health risks!, I particularly love what was said in that post which says:
The problem never arises if you learn how to balance life and work. But for most of us, it's quite difficult. And that's why we face so many mental health issues these days.
A lot of people have taken their health for granted all in the name of trying to make ends meet. I know of someone who decided to take 100 days off just to focus on his health and I commend that. We don't seem to understand that nothing would matter if we don't take good care of our health.
You are chasing after money and after you get that money, what's the point when there is no perfect health to enjoy it or you have to consistently spend your money to take care of the health that it costs you in chasing the money? Is that not being back to where you started and much worse? Many people don't know the importance of sleeping even for longer hours.
We have heard all the things people say about rich people sleeping for lesser hours because that's what keeps them successful but no one would tell you that it's not the only thing they do, they go for regular checkups just to make up for any deficiencies but we seem to hold on to the popular consensus that they have lesser hours to sleep and that's why they are successful. I am sure any right-thinking successful person would know how to balance time and make up for lost sleep once in a while because what they are doing that kept them from sleeping matters and it won't always be like that.
It's true when they say health is wealth but most people have sacrificed their health for wealth forgetting that having the right and perfect health is the way to securing a long-lasting wealth. Everything in like calls for balance but a lot of people tilt towards the extreme most of the time. They think they have more time to sort things out and it ends up costing them even further than they anticipated.
Taking care of our health involves doing the things that would keep us in good condition. Not everyone can afford to go to the gym but having a cool evening walk doesn't hurt. If you have worked all day, that might be hard but what about the weekend? What about going for regular checkups? What about eating the right kind of meals? What about taking a lot of water and eating fruits regularly?
This is the only life we have and the only one we have to live and if we run down our health there is little to what we can do going forward. So many dreams have been cut short as a result of ill health. So many people have been left with regrets about what could have been. So many people wish they can go back in time and change certain things. We don't have to be another casualty when we have the time to do things right. We need to take good care of what we have before it becomes what we had.
