Hello Hivers and Community,
How are you today?
After two weeks of visiting the city of Tanjung Pura, it was time for me to write about this simple but very touching experience. The city of Tanjung Pura is a city full of memories. A few years ago, I went to this city to visit the ancestral grave of my husband's grandfather, then after that I fished on the seafront which is not far from the city center.
At that time, the experience was very enjoyable because for the first time knowing how to fish in brackish water while listening to the ancestral history of one of our family members who was in Tanjung Pura.
However, on this occasion, I went to the city of Tanjung Pura. I attended another family event and asked my husband to visit the only magnificent mosque in the city, the Azizi Mosque.
We often pass this mosque when we go to Tanjung Pura city, but only this time I finally came here. This mosque really really makes me curious about the magnificent building that has been standing since 1902.
Fyi, this building has never been completely renovated at the base of the building. The strength of this building amazed me, because this mosque is the only remnant of the Langkat Sultanate, which was deliberately made for religious facilities made by the Langkat Sultanate at that time.
We can see from the beginning that we entered the main gate, even the gate still feels very old, it has not been completely replaced by the initial construction of this azizi mosque. Famous for mosques that only use yellow and green paint from time immemorial, no other color can replace it. Did you know, the color yellow is the symbol of the Malay tribe.
Azizi mosque built in Malay land, is one of the historical evidence of advanced civilization in the Malay land, Langkat. Founded with various ornaments, carvings and designs influenced by Turkish, Arabic, and Persian cultures.
As we know, the city of Tanjung Pura is very hot because it is on the edge of the sea. But if you want to visit the azizi mosque and enter it, the cold room as a place of worship will be very soothing, the breeze from outside is very pleasant and even makes you sleepy. You can see in the picture that I took, there are some people lying on the prayer mat to rest.
Lots of small pillars that stand upright as if supporting the building. Typically this mosque is located on these pillars. On the floor, made of a very sturdy ceramic arrangement. When I see the ceramics in this mosque, I think of my grandmother's house which has been standing since the Dutch colonial era. But unfortunately, my grandmother's house was completely destroyed by a new building. I know very well, the ceramic is very cold, my grandmother said that the ceramic is made of terrazzo material.
It is very captivating the many carvings with Arabic writings and some verses from the Qur'an. Neatly written on all doors and walls. There are also chandeliers that are still very durable and well-maintained. Although the model is very old, it is not outdated and still functions very well. If I look at this chandelier, I also remember some of the relics that were in Maimoon Palace. It looks like they both use the same type of chandelier.
On the side of the building, lies the tomb of the kings of the Langkat sultanate, but I can't walk there anymore because the air outside is very hot. But you can see, before crossing to the tombs of the kings of the Langkat sultanate, there is a place that is said to be a place for influential people to gather beside the mosque to carry out a religious activity or even to consult without the need to use the room in the mosque and disturb people who are praying. worship. The place is being renovated on the marble floor. He said it was being renovated by the local government to beautify this mosque.
This mosque is very beautiful to look at from the outside, if you pass the main road in the city of Tanjung Pura. This mosque is the only mosque that has great power from its predecessors, it was established for the good and benefit of the Muslims in Tanjung Pura.
See you the next time hive friends!
