Youth plays a crucial role in our community, not just in the community, but in the entire world. As they said, youth is the agent of change or the nation builders. Nowadays, as the population keeps increasing and the problems and issues continue to rise, as a youth, one of our responsibilities is to be an active citizen and promote the betterment of our community.
The day before we began our first deployment for our community-service learning, our team planned carefully what activities needed to be conducted. We came up with this plan: we were going to have a literacy program, feeding program, and clean-up drive.
We went with the literacy program first. We looked for a place where we could have our literacy program and also find a place that is friendly and accessible for learning. So we walked in, and when we arrived there, many children were waiting for us and welcomed us with full excitement and enthusiasm.
We felt mixed emotions because this was our first time being exposed to a larger group. The community there was good and friendly, as well as the children very attentive and willing to learn. We tried to reach out to areas that have a lot of children and fortunately, we found one.

We read stories, played math games, and more. After that, we gave some rewards, especially to those children who won and actively participated in the said activity. Having this kind of activity really helps us especially our confidence, public speaking, and enhancing and communication skills.
In addition, it allow us to know more about our community and builds strong relationships, friendships, teamwork, and camaraderie.
After all It was such a fun learning experience, and were looking forward for the second day and the next following days of our service.
