The wicking beds have been so successful over the last two years that I just HAVE to make more of them where I can. You can read my earlier posts on wicking beds [here() where I detail making them out of water storage containers. I've also made them in bath tubs and metal troughs. In this post, I describe making one out of an old apple crate which sometimes you can find for free. We had one lying around behind the shed, so I decided I'd give this a go, though we're a bit broke at the moment and I can't really afford materials!

As Above So Below - Community Creation

As I've written previously, it is said that the next Buddha will be a community, not an individual.
Buddhas come for a given age, to lead people forward in their spiritual, social and psychological evolution. How appropriate that at a time of such division, to the point that it threatens the Earth's ability to support human life, the Buddha needed for the age would represent the ability of people to work together across differences.
That last part is particularly important. I don't believe Maitreya could possibly be a homogeneous group of people. It would necessarily represent the creation of harmony within diversity, since that is the task at hand.

The Death of Nuance

Nuance is the subtle shades of feeling, context, and tone that color our world. Nuance is essential for individuality because predictable, planned responses hollow out our uniqueness and destroy free thought.
Black and white thinking devoid of nuance requires a person to only see something by one color, by the single exterior layer of a complex collection of intersecting issues. Nuance requires diving past our accepted ideas, considering the "sides" of an issue (HINT: there are more than two sides to almost anything), and seeking understanding instead of confirmation.

Earlier today, while drinking a coffee and eating bread with tomato and cheese at my local restaurant Terra Bela, the woman who works there and is more or less my age asked me the following question:
Aren't You ( feeling ) Alone?**
She explained to met that, since her husband had left her ( a week and a half ago ) and since her mom had broken her arm ( a couple of days back ), she is feeling pretty lonely and that, in turn, made her think of me and my situation.
( FYI: I'm probably the restaurant's most loyal client / frequent visitor, when I'm in town )

Happiness takes many forms

Happiness is something that can only be found inside of each of us. It is an amazing phenomenon; although we can only find happiness within self, we are yet able to share that happiness with others in a way that may help them on their own journey towards contentment.
I decided to make a quick post this evening to share a bit of my happiness and contentment with you. My life is a wealth of treasures ~ and I truly believe this is because with gratitude comes abundance.
May these moments of joy that I have been able to experience in the past couple of weeks bring each of you an opportunity to smile and challenge each of you to find new treasures in every day!

There is an ongoing struggle taking place. Centralized entities are trying to hold onto control. Unfortunately for them, they are losing the battle quickly.
As most in the crypto community are aware, Twitter was hacked and some big names were involved in a large crypto scam. I am sure the mainstream media will try to turn this against Bitcoin, acting like it would not have happened if Bitcoin was not around. Of course, anyone with a bit of sense, which is a rarity these days, knows more crime is committed in USD than any other currency.

Homeschooling has never been so popular. And it's all thanks to the government's response to COVID-19. Society may be turning into a technocratic wet-dream of increasing control over our lives, but this is one good thing to come from all this authoritarian madness.
Schools have reopened in some places, but parents are avoiding them anyways. But it's not a very welcoming place. It's even dehumanizing as some parents put it. I think that's an accurate statement when you look at how children are being treated. These were the CDC guidelines from May:

As an amateur astronomer and lover of the celestial arts and sciences, I like to observe the solar system and its dance of the spheres as they circle their way in a merry parade around the central giant of the Sun. Before the time of the telescope we were in blissful ignorance of our position in the heavens, but since Galileo and his peers (since he was not alone in inventing the telescope) we have developed a clearer and clearer picture of what is going on in the solar system, and thus have gained tremendous self-awareness as a result.

Feds “Kidnapping” Protesters Off The Street In Unmarked Vans Without Identifying Themselves

In Portland, Oregon, federal law enforcement officers admitted to using unmarked vehicles to round up protesters and detain them. In videos of these “snatch and grab” incidents, officers can be seen driving up to people and carrying them off without any of the typical legal protocols.
The ACLU filed a lawsuit Friday evening in response to the heavy-handed police tactics, saying that, “Federal agents are terrorizing the community, threatening lives, and relentlessly attacking protesters demonstrating against police brutality. This is not law and order. This is lawlessness — and it must be stopped.”

Well, I've been getting opinionated online again, and the inevitable result is misinterpretation of my plain language, and demands that I unfriend people and get out for daring to dissent.
Let's see if I can collect my thoughts here for a less-intense conversation. As always, feel free to comment below if you want a civil discourse on an admittedly messy tangle of topics.
Between the COVID-19 pandemic panic and the fallout from the George Floyd murder, it seems many of the people I once thought were libertarians have either sided with the mask mandate authoritarians or the police state crackdowns on protests.

Celebrating Chinese Activist Dai Qing: 3 Gorges Dam is on Red Alert

Courageous, educated, passionate Chinese women are not something we, in the non-Chinese world, learn much about. Today, as much of Asia sits anxiously awaiting news of the 3 Gorges Dam and its imminent collapse, it is time to take a moment to honour her. Why is the western world not screaming in unison to celebrate her courage? cos they don't know about (arguably) one of the world's largest geo-political-environmental disasters in the making.
Firstly, what is the 3 Gorges Dam? It's the largest hydro-electrical project in the world - a dam on the Yangtze River in Southern China, ostensibly built for massive electrical generation and flood control. It has caused phenomenal displacement of people, and environmental devastation.
