In the last post I took you on a tour through some lakes in Sweden
Today we'll continue our journey which will end in a spectacular sunset! I left off from camp in the early morning and paddled on another lake. Every once in a while I had to get off of my canoe and walk it through some shallower waters. For example, when there was a smaller river with a lower water level. But I still enjoyed it, although I was happy when I could paddle in deeper waters again.
After some hours I reached an island on which I could rest a bit. There was a fireplace and a small hut. The place was just spectacular as it had everything I wanted: shelter, fire, some resources and a beautiful view. The island itself was very small which added to the feeling of "having my own little island for a day" and I got right to it and made some fire.
Here you can see "my island" again. Isn't it just nice? ๐ Although I guess I could have stayed longer, I only had finite resources (food) so I continued the next day. There were more lakes and rivers and I also happened to see a small water fall.
It was nice to spot some houses once in a while as I enjoyed feeling not completely isolated. And there were of course some other people riding their canoe or kayak; this small social aspect was a nice highlight for the day. But being on the lakes without seeing any sign of civilization was also a beautiful and humbling experience!
And then I reached my place for the night as it was getting already late. The sun set here at around 10 pm, so if you see the sun at this time of year here near to the horizon, you know it's getting late! This too was a smaller island and I liked that it didn't have so many trees which made the island quite overseeable. And there was also another couple here, although there was plenty of space for the three of us. I just set up my tent on the other side of the island.
The sunset that night was truly spectacular. The sun changed the skied and waters very slowly and softly. The water looked and felt so soft that it almost felt like a different medium. The place transformed into a beautiful almost otherworldly realm.
