Hi Friends
I mentioned that the weather in Istanbul had been very hot lately in my last post. The air temperature has continued the same way last week. Meanwhile, the governorship decided to ban entrance to the forest areas in Istanbul until October 15. This decision came earlier than I expected and its duration is too long. Thus, I have to find other places where I can spend my weekends in the summer.

Son yazımda İstanbul’da havaların artık çok sıcak olduğundan bahsetmiştim. Hava sıcaklığı geçtiğimiz hafta da aynı şekilde devam etti. Bu arada, valilik tarafından İstanbul’da ormanlık alanlara girişlerin 15 Ekim’e kadar yasaklanma kararı alındı. Bu karar beklediğimden erken geldi ve süresi de çok uzun. Artık yaz mevsiminde haftasonlarını geçeribileceğim başka yerler bulmalıyım.
I didn't have any activity plans for the weekend because my friend was coming from across the European side of Istanbul. However, last weekend was the last weekend before the ban and I have never been to Esenceli Village with my friend before. For this reason and to cool off a bit, we decided to go to the Ömerli Dam shoreline in Esenceli Village, which is placed in Şile district of İstanbul. My friend arrived around three o'clock in the afternoon. Although it was normally be a late hour to get there, this wouldn't be a big problem considering the daylight is longer in summer months.
Karşıdan arkadaşım geleceği için hafta sonuna herhangi bir aktivite planım yoktu. Fakat, geçtiğimiz haftasonu yasaktan önceki son hafta sonuydu ve bu arkadaşımla daha önce Esenceli Köyü’ne hiç gitmemiştik. Hem bu nedenle hem de biraz serinlemek için İstanbul’un Şile ilçesinde bulunan, Esenceli Köyü’ndeki Ömerli Baraj kıyısına gitmeye karar verdik. Arkadaşım öğleden sonra saat üç gibi gelmişti. Normalde oraya gitmek için geç bir saat olsada yaz aylarında gündüz süresinin daha uzun olduğunu düşünürsek bu çok büyük bir sorun olmazdı.
After my friend arrived, we quickly started shopping so as not to waste time. Since our time was limited, this time we decided to have sautéd meat instead of barbecue. Shopping took about an hour. Then, we loaded the table, chairs and other things in the car. We picked another friend along the way and set off towards Esenceli Village around five o'clock. We arrived at Esenceli Village after about 45 minutes. Due to the YKS (University Entrance Exam) which was held at the weekend, the surroundings of the dam and the forest area were not very crowded.
Arkadaşım geldikten sonra zaman kaybetmemek için hemen alışverişe başladık. Zamanımız kısıtlı olduğu için bu kez mangal yerine et sote yapmaya karar verdik. Alışveriş yaklaşık bir saat sürdü. Sonraya arabaya masa, sandalyeler ve diğer malzemeleri koyduk. Yol üstünden de başka bir arkadaşı alarak saat beş gibi Esenceli Köyü’ne doğru yola çıktık. Yaklaşık 45 dakika sonra Esenceli Köyü’ne varmıştık. Sanırım hafta sonu YKS (Üniversite Giriş) sınavı olduğu için barajın etrafı ve ormanlık alanlar çok kalablık değildi.
While we were thinking about where to settle, we parked the car at the place overlooking the lake. We took the things from the car and walked towards the back side of the dam. I had visited these places with other friends before, but we had never settle there. We wanted to settle on a place like an observation terrace, in the forest, overlooking the lake; but another family had already come there. We settled somewhere nearby, also by the lake. My friend liked Esenceli Village and Ömerli Dam shore very much. We were all very hungry because we stopped for breakfast. We quickly turned on the stove and started chopping meat, peppers and onions.
Nereye oturalım diye düşünürken arabayı göl manzarsı olan yere park ettik. Arabadan malzemeleri alıp barajın kıyısından arka tarafa doğru yürüdük. Başka arkadaşlarla daha önce buraları gezmiştim ama buralara hiç oturmamıştık. Bu taraflarda, ormanın içinde, göle doğru bakan, seyir terası gibi olan yere oturmak istedik, fakat başka bir aile çoktan oraya gelmişti. Biz de yakınında, yine göl kenarında bir yere yerleştik. Arkadaşım Esenceli Köyü ve Ömerli Baraj kıyısını çok beğenmişti. Hepimiz sabah kahvaltısı ile durduğumuz için çok acıkmıştık. Hemen ocağı yakıp etleri, biberleri ve soğanları doğramaya başladık.
It took about half an hour to cook the sautéd meat. Meanwhile, that family left the place I mentioned above. Thus, we carried foods and things there. We put sautéed meat in sandwich and ate it there. We were all craving tea, but this time we didn't take the samovar with us :) It was starting to get dark. The sound of jackals was coming from the forests on the opposite shore. We sat and chatted until nine o'clock. Before it got too dark, we packed up the things, walked towards the car, and headed home. All photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.
Et soteyi yapmak yaklaşık yarım saat sürdü. Bu arada, o aile yukarda bahsettiğim yerden ayrıldı. Biz de yiyecekleri ve malzemeleri oraya taşıdık. Et soteyi ekmek arası yapıp orada yedik. Hepimizin canı çay çekmişti, ama bu kez semaveri yanımıza almamıştık : ) Hava kararmaya başlamıştı. Karşı kıydaki ormanların içinden çakalların sesi geliyordu. Saat dokuza kadar oturup muhabbet ettik. Daha fazla karanlık olmadan eşyalarımızı toplayıp arabaya doğru yürüdük ve eve doğru yola çıktık. Bu yazıdaki tüm fotoğraflar bana aittir.
